View Full Version : Of all the tablets
That are now out there which one (other than iPad) would VBOT choose? I have a Kindle Fire that I'm going to give Martha. So I'm going to get one for myself. Only thing I've used it for is internet browsing and playing a few apps. I'd like to stick with the Andriod system since I'm pretty familiar with it.
:waiting: :bigears:
We picked up a Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Nice unit, functions well, has decent speed.
Posting from my 1st generation iPad. Have an HP TouchPad at home. It's used mostly for bathroom reading.
Had a Vizio tablet for a couple of weeks. That was a steaming pile so I took it back to the store.
Played with a Surface for a few minutes the other day. I mentioned to the salesdweeb that the OS takes up 16GB. He replied, "I was unaware of that. I'm like I was unaware of that.". I walked away after that.

ASUS Transformer Prime, been very pleased with it. Good graphics and speed. Later versions improved the WiFi issues that first ones had, although I never had a problem connecting at any of the hotels I've been at. Also like the keyboard/dockingstation/battery that they have with it.

I recommend the Nexus 10. It's officially available on the 13th.

Nexus 7 or the ASUS transformer tablets.
One thing to consider: iPad has outsold ALL other tablets combined.
Go down to your favorite retailer and play with an Android tablet for a while. Surf the web. Read a book. Try to download productivity apps and try them out. Do the same with an iPad. Then determine which tablet is best for you.

Alan, iPad would probably be my first choice. Problem is the budget I've put on this won't support the price of an apple product. I really have a cap on this of 400.00. I may be short changing myself.
What do you want to do with a tablet?
The virtual keyboard on iPad kinda blows, compared to the keyboard on the TouchPad, which rocks. However, the TouchPad blows.
There are iOS apps that are developed specifically for iPad. Not sure If there are tablet specific apps available in Google's Play Store. You can search. Apple likes to state that there are none.
If you check out the refurb section on Apple's website, you can often find iPads that will fit your budget.

:cheers:General web use, might watch some hulu and youtube. I have a couple of cards game apps on my Droid X I would play.
As I mentioned before, sit down with both types of devices and use them for a while before before coughing up the dough.

 That IS a tablet. No phone functionality at all. I guess I should have said 'droid (as in "Android")
:slap: yourself.

What's your problem? I suggested that Skia take a look at each platform and decide what would work best for him. :slap:

Since I gave my no-name 7" tablet to one of my employees, I was thinking about picking this 9.7 android 4.0. model up for $ 190. Although, I will probably wait, because I am just about sure I saw the same thing in a previous ad for $ 160, so it should hit that price again if I wait long enough.
