View Full Version : How long did it take you to vote?

Four years ago I thought I'd go early and be in line by 6:45 AM to beat most of the crowd. I probably had 100 people in front of me and it took at least an hour. It sucked.
This year I'm thinking about going around 9:00 AM. Hopefully most people have to be to work by that time and I'll avoid the major rush. I hate waiting in line for an hour to do something that takes about 2 minutes to accomplish.
So, how long did you wait in line to vote?
I live in a fairly small town, so I'm usually in and out in under 5 minutes! (Yeah I know, that's what she said!)

Early voting took about 45 minutes due to the crowd. Usually in my precinct I am the only one there, but this year I just couldn't wait any longer to vote to throw the bastard out.

Stopped by to vote early twice last week, but the line was in the 2 1/2 hour range. Got to the church at 6:30 this morning and I was about 40 people back. Took about 30 minutes after the doors opened at 7.

I just came back. I stood in line for about 10 min and got back in my car and came home. I'll go back again later. That was the longest line I've ever seen at this polling place. I have a real good feeling about this election.
Let's just say I should have left the engine running. In and out in 10mins. Worth every second too.
We'll go vote in about 2 hours. Let the morning rush clear out.

Got to the polling place at 0700 (as normal) but Jeebus there was a line out the door and halfway down the side of the school. Instead of the normal 15-minute total it took over 40-minutes to get the ballot, another 2-minutes to fill it out and turn it in.

We just got back. Decided 10:00 AM sounded like a good time to go. It was absolutely perfect. From the time we left the house to the time we got back here, 20 minutes. The poll worker told me that just 15 minutes earlier they were slammed and they were in a nice lull. As we were leaving cars were streaming into the parking lot. Hit. It. Perfect.

About 5 minuits.
Mrs. 6spd and I just got back from voting. (11AM) I was # 221 according to the machine. I live in a small town with only about 700 full time people eligible to vote so consider that a decent turnout so far. As the majority of the working people will start showing up to vote after 4PM.
The polls close at 9PM so we should have a good turn out!

Only 5 people in front of me in line. We had a choice of paper or electronic ballot. I chose electronic. Then I realized that there were only two electronic booths, and about 8 for the paper ballots so I had to wait even longer for the electronic machines. :banghead:
I could have been in and out of there in less than 5 minutes if I had chosen paper, but instead it ended up taking almost 12 minutes since I chose electronic. :D

The first time through the line it took no time at all.
The second time through, it took about 20 minutes.
The third time through, they got suspicious, and I just said, "I'm him." They let me through after about 10 minutes.

There is a VA constitutional amendment to change the eminent domain laws to prohibit providing the taken land to a private entity. I'm guessing a lot of folks are seeing these few hundred words for the first time:slap::kick:

Was in line before they opened, as that was the best time for my wife. Waited for about 15 minutes.

Finished in 1:25. Every minute was a privilege.
Under 15 minutes. Got there at about 8:40. 10 deep for the electronic machines and only 1 person in front of the wife and I for paper. By the time I walked to the line that one person had gone and two others opened up. I was done and the one of the 3 electronic lines had moved by one person. I don't get why people would wait in line just for that.

5 min. Redistricting screwed a lot of people up and had to go to another site. A lOT of pissed off people.
Walked in, voted and left. Took less than 5 minutes. No one in line in front of me and only one other person came in behind me. Right as I was leaving the after work rush hit, must have been 20 cars pull in.
