Is the cat on a leash? Guy walking a cat on a leash - maybe.

If walk down my street or go to the neighbors, my cat will follow right behind me. That's as close as I've gotten to walking them. They have a mind of there own.

If he wasn't on a leash I wouldn't be walking him, I'd be walking with him, yes he'd be on a leash, I don't want him taking off and then have to spend the better part of my day trying to catch him.

Let me clarify. I walk to my neighbors or down the street on a regular base. My cats (and dogs, if I let them loose out of the back yard) will follow me just about every time. So I kinda consider that walking them.

If the cat is new or an indoor cat, that is your best and only option to keep them from running away.

If someone ask you or says your ghey because you do that, then ask them "Do you want me to let kitty loose and see what happens. He or she is a trained attack cat that's why they are on a leash".

Maybe I'll get one of those harnesses for him, he was a stray for a few years before I rescued him, got him cleaned up and up to date on his shots so I think he still has the "outdoor" mentallity and I kinda feel sad that he's couped up inside all day. F'k it, I don't GAS what people think, I'm going to walk him, maybe during our city's annual gay pride parade that way no one will know any different.

If you already have the cat, you're evidently secure in your masculinity. :D

If he were my pet, I'd rather walk him on a leash than lose him. Who cares what anyone else says? :)

definitely need all the right coordinated accessories!!

(I've actually tried to walk a cat on a leash...........you'd have better luck putting a harness on a brick and dragging it around)

I'm guessing it CAN be done, though. Someone near my grandma's home used to walk a skunk on a leash. :yesnod:

Actually I think walking a pet gerbil might get you a few more "STRANGE" looks than walking a cat.

When I was a kid there was a Popeye cartoon where he reluctantly had to walk Olive Oil's tiny dog. He tied the leash to a brick and then ran very long string that he actually held onto so it wouldn't look like he was walking the fem dog.

Might work here.

My GF and I have four cats now, and they are our family. We don't let them outside, as being outdoors is history for them. Much better to keep them away from fleas, ticks, etc... Not to mention they'd be darting for the door every time it was opened, if they thought it was ok to go out.

That being said, if you still wish to give your cat fresh air, and you feel the window is not enough, then go ahead and walk it. I'd sooner walk my cat than hold my GF's purse while she goes in a dressing room - and that 'aint gonna happen! :D

Good for you! And good for him for you rescuing him.

I used to walk my iguana but I stopped. Not because of the people pointing and laughing but because he just couldn't be trained well enough to walk on a leash and I was afraid he would hurt himself.

Mine always wanted to go out and I felt bad for keeping her inside. I bought a collar for her and tried to go for a walk. She was afraid of grass and just wanted to sit on the sidewalk. It ended up being more of a drag than a walk.

She didn't try to get out after that though.

Maybe I'll take him out when it's -30 Celcius and see if that'll change his mind about wanting to be outside.
