View Full Version : Betty Boop's Interiors Make Over
Ok Guys, I think this project is 99% done. Let's see where RedLine ends up with my problem. I foresee taking it off, and going back to the shop by mu house. I did the same with the Ghost's boot, but it was only the top part.
I re-organized my photobucket and all pictures are now in a different folder.
Lets do a quick summary.

Replaced the High Beam selector. For the size, and the cost this is the hardest, and most expensive work I've done on any car.

Something interesting on the driver's door panel.
Looks like the previous owner, the dealer, or a non-C4 expert removed the panel, and didn't slide
it up for removal. Seems to me he pulled towards himself snapping off the long tab at the top.
This tab snaps (weak by design) th panel with the door frame. I took some plastic, made 4 small, but deeper tabs.

In 2006 I met with Gordon Kelbrew, that dude is the C4 Wikipedia. He told me about a lot of DIY
fix projects, one of the many was about the difference between 84-93, and 94-96 door panels.
The 94-96 panels do not use the door panel side screw, but the space for a nylon fastener is there
by design. I had some leftovers and took Gordon'e advice, and got it done.

The deeper tabs makes a tigher fit on top. I wish I've done that to the passenger side.
That side screw on the door panels makes a BIG difference, the door panels now is tighter than ever!!
I had this hook, and OEM floor mats lefft over from the Ghost project.

I was able to installed these ones within two hours. It was a challenge.
I ordered Lloyd Mats, and they are on their way. I hope John Hekking helps
me with that installation, he couldn't do it, and had to tow his Vette to the
dealer for installation.

I wish I had the time you do. So many things I would like to do to mine. The list alone would take a year to write and I manage to squeeze out about 5-6 weekends a year. Your car looks better than new Pete.:seasix: Thanks for sharing the write ups too

Looking real good. Is there anything original left on that car? I bet it rides tighter than new.

On Betty Boop, the engine is a LT1 stock with shorty headers, 52mm TB, 1000 CFM MAF, and Vortex Ram Air. The rad is Dewitts. The brakes are C5 in the front, and C4 in the rear. The 4L60E and 3.07 differential are stock. The wheels are C6-Z06 deep dish replicas.
The Ghost's only stock item are the ZF transmission, and the rear calipers.

Damn Pete! You're a work of art when it comes to these C4's. You're on par with Gordan Kelbrew with these projects. My hat goes off to you for your excellent documentation of each project. Now since BB is done, I'd like to come over to see it in person. I'll send you a PM.

Ha! I see you couldn't sleep at night until you got this spring and the column lock slot lined up. (Oct 25th vs Oct 14th pics for those that want to know)
Now you know just almost as much as me about servicing these things. I'm gonna ask you the next time... but seriously:
This is some kind of IQ test- props and curses to the original designer- evil freakin' genius.

You are right Mike, it was bothering me. I searched the manual, and found pictures and saw there was no small spring there. I went back to the pictures, and noticed my spring jumped the gun out of the groove. It was funny, I got the whole thing out of there within 30 minutes. The first time took me few hours.
Yes, it looks prehistoric, but whoever invented that column with all those small moving, and locking parts had to be a smart dude.
I almost take the whole thing apart because I could not find the reason why the steering was not locking. I have the FSM, all repair manuals, the dealer parts manual, and what helped me was a CF member's PM.
That damn plastic horn buttons are designed to brake, I wont be surprised if it is already brake after I tested it. Which reminds me The Ghost only have one, and its broken.

dang Pete, I did have a couple of pics I had to help me put it back together- forgot to send this one...didn't look at yours closely to see the one spring loop on the wrong side of the sector gear. sorry, but now you are a Saginaw expert.

Quite a project Pete! Impressive no matter how you look at it! BTW, those new seats look fantastic! :seasix:
I noticed South Park supplied a needed schematic on Oct 10th!!!!!
Yesterday I took Betty Boop for a short 200 mile trip. I got to admit the lousy looking boot
got to me, and this morning I took the console out, removed the boot, grabbed the OEM boot,
and drove to the custom upholstery shop.
I gave the owner both boots. Told him I wanted the big boot to be molded or cloned like the
OEM boot. He took my phone number, I left and he called within 20 minutes that it was ready
for pick up.
To my surprised he made a new boot, and said "this one is better material not this china sh*t;
Where did you buy this?"
I was very happy with the way it looked, drove home, and an hour ago I got busy with it.

The material does look way better than the one you ordered. Put these up on CF and shame those crooks.
Thats amazing Pete. It makes all the difference to have parts that are made right using good materials.:seasix:

Way to go, Local Vendors! That new one is a world apart from Redline's abortion! In fact, I also think the new one looks better WITHOUT Redline's dopey, gay-looking red stitching...
I agree with duke-put that last before-and-after in your answering post to Redline if they screw you on a refund!
Gentlemen,
The cold weather is affecting few CF members. They already started their stupid fall/winter questions.
This one is very special. Notice how 99% of the pictures have the date on them.

That is where most of these vendors make their money. Ever noticed those stupid TV ads where they throw in another product for free, but you must pay separate shipping and handling charges. WTF, nothing but a scam:seasix:

I had a Polack friend in high school. Went over to his house one weekend. He was painting the living room. Except, instead of bringing the can and roller tray with him, he would walk back each time, dip the roller, and roll the wall. As he progressed down the wall, the walk got further and further. He was too farkin' stupid to bring the paint with him.

I was telling Pete that growing up as a kid, my dad use to call the good old crescent wrench a "Polak" wrench.

When I rented a car in Holland, they said if it was a Porsche, BMW, or Mercedes, that you were not allowed to go to Latvia, Poland, and some other places near there.
Maybe they wanted their cars back without missing interior leather.
