Gun Bluing

I know some of you here like guns so maybe you can help. I have some metal pieces which I believe to be stainless but may be regular steel and I want to color them black. Is there gun bluing stuff that's super dark or maybe even black and will it work on the materials I have?

If you're not in to guns but know of a product or method that might work feel free to chime in.

I did find this stuff (http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/black.htm#stainless)that looks promising.

I have an entire kit at home I use on my guns that you can barrow Munch. That is if you dont figure something else out by the time I get home. The more coats of the blueing you put on the darker it gets. You can get blakc out of it. It will not be ebony black but you can get it very dark.
