:rasta: Sorry, not that kind of reefer.

My wife got me a saltwater tank for my B-day from a friend of hers who couldn't take care of it anymore. I don't know much about it but have been hitting the forums for knowledge and amazingly haven't killed anything yet. When they brought the tank over (3 hours away) they killed a yellow tang, some kind of angel and a sea urchin but I never knew them (the fish) so it is what it is. The fish that survived were 2 Blue Chromis, 2 Clowns, a Sand Sifter and a Brittle Starfish although I haven't seen the starfish since we put it in the tank. There were some corals too but I don't know the name of them yet.

I did make a trip to the local fish store about 40 mins away and got another coral, an electric scallop, a peppermint shrimp and a Picasso trigger fish. I've wanted a Picasso ever since I saw one when I was a teenager. My wife named the trigger Fred Flintstone and he has quite the personality. The peppermint shrimp dissapeared about 30 seconds after he got in the tank and I haven;t seen it since, I think maybe the trigger ate it but who can say.

The tank is a 90gal and came with a protein skimmer plus 2 bio-wheel filters. I want to get a sump but had a bit of shock when I priced them.

Anyway, I'd love to hear about your set-up and see some pics. Here are some pics of mine so far.

The scallop, you can actually see the electricity in its mouth! Not in the pic but in the tank.

:iagree: I would like to have one but don't have the patience to take care of one.

I had tropical fish years ago, and they were a PITA to take care of. Anyone know how much different is salt water? Anyway, nice looking setup.

I had a 55gal with Chiclids (tropical) years ago and all I had to do were water changes out of the tap and feed them, pretty easy. For saltwater you have to check salinity, Magnesium, Calcium, alkalinity, PH, nitrates, etc and if you have corals then there is Iodine, special lights and other stuff I don't even know about yet.

It's way more work than I would like but I'm told that once you get a rhythm going it's not too bad. Don't tell my wife but I doubt I would have gotten a saltwater tank at this time as it seems like too much work. I also have to feed them 3 different kinds of food.
