That's noice! I like it!

Of course, if it was a '78 with the same appointments, I'd be buying it! :yesnod:

Take one for a spin and you won't want one anymore.

I like it too.....then again, I'm partial. I've got a '02 WS-6 in the garage.

Question: it says manual trans, but that looks like an auto shifter? Also, a lot rides on the quality of that repaint. I'd really like to see it in person, as well as to see if the car runs and drives out as it should.

....and I also agree with 73sbVert.....I'd go absolutely apoplectic with a 77-79 Bandit Edition 400/4sp with Hurst t-tops.

It doesn't help that I watched smokey and the bandit this weekend.

LoL. Some fond memories are meant to be left in the past. Yeah, I know it is slow and crude by today's standards but I still kind of want it for T-Top cruisin.

Why not a C4?

I have more self respect than that.

That's tough for me...... as I love that generation... The things that stick out to me are the GTA stickers... , the wing.. I think all the trans am had the aero wing, and the 8K Tach on it. I think the 6CYL cars had the 8K tach and the V8's had the 6K. My 91 TPI 305 has the 6K tach.

Then on top of all that... the bird on the hood..... why why why. To me they just don't look right on the 3rd gen.

Price Neg.Price reduction.

I love F-Bodies, owned a '92 Firebird vert. myself. He's willing to come down, at about 5K that's almost disposable.

Do it :cert:

When I bought my '92 I was really wanting a WS6. I was looking at new Firebirds ('96 at the time) vs a used Vette. The insurance on the vette was less. Thus my purchase. :leaving:

I may be mistaken, but weren't all GTA's 350 w/auto. That might be a Trans Am that's been rebadged.

My dad worked for Pontiac in 1990, he got a new off the showroom floor Bright red Firebird Formula 350 with every option available, at 1 penny over cost. I loved that car, wish he'd kept it.

Its listed as a 5.0 which is a bit of a dog compared to the 5.7.

I had an '88 IROC 5.7, just a few minor mods and it was blowing away Corvettes of the same era..........which is not saying a lot I know.

Old Poncho head here.....but not so much on the new ones with Chebby in there, I liked the old 389-400-421-428-455 with a nod to the 326-350 engines also.....my last Poncho was a '70 Lemans Sport Convertible, blue/wh/wh had the 78-79 F Body snowflake wheels on it.....come think of it, I have one of those wheels for sale 15x8

so that Lemans had a 462 with #96 heads on it, stock iron multi tube headers, and Direct Port Injection that I cut up a old Edel intake and put a 1000 CFM throttle body on, MAN could that thing scream, 400 turbo and 12 bolt posi rear 321 ratio......550 ft lbs at idle, poor car had NO CLUE how to come out straight,....

It was the tow car for the boat, 8000 lbs total rig weight......

go into a pull on South Mountain out I 70 just west of Fredrick Md......

10% grade for 4 miles, go in at 80 and pull to 100 mph just to hear the engine scream and roar......:kick::rofl: lift under the Appalachian Trail.....:seasix:

Re-read the description. The ad doesn't list the car as a 5.0. Just the tranny.

Whoops, my bad.

It is a GTA so it should be a 5.7

It could also be a TPI 5.0. The 5.7s were standard with an automatic, but I believe the 5.0 could come with a standard shift transmission, so if you wanted a GTA and to shift yourself, you were stuck with the 5.0

I didn't think you could get a GTA with a 5.0, I also have never seen one with a 5 spd.

It is definitely a GTA. The only way you could get a 5 speed was with the 5.0 which is why most of the GTA's were 350/auto. It doesn't really matter to me other than that I like shifting gears myself.
