I stumbled across these on Woot today. Has anyone tried these glasses, or something similar? My eyes get super fatigued when I spend too much time sitting on a computer...such as all day at work. I'm curious to see if anyone has tried something to combat the issue, and if they actually help. I need new glasses anyways.

$35-$60 on woot
I've wanted to try them... But I don't want to spend the coin. Whenever they were on sale at woot, they were gone before I got a chance to place an order.

I'll spend the hundred dollars if they work. I'm really tired of the eye fatigue and the headaches. Just want to make sure it's not snake oil.

I would be tempted to try those yellow tinted safety glasses, like the ones they sell at hardware stores, before shelling out that kind of money.

That's not a bad idea, but I need prescription glasses.

Those yellow glasses are great for peeping fall foliage, they really bring out the colors.

I guess we're the only ones who have this issue.

....or for gunning people down......whichever.
I always thought the yellow tint glasses were for shooting. Is that not correct?

I think they're only available in best buy and the prescription ones through one of their special eye doctors.

I can't believe it, but it just so happens that my eye doctor carries them too! Only ones in the entire area.
I really don't wear glasses often enough. It's only one bad eye, and I seem to manage fine except for reading. The thing that's getting to me are the three screens in my face all day. Might as well try to kill two birds with one stone.
I didn't know these existed until your post. :seasix:

It's like getting punched in the eyes all day!
I'm happy to hear I was able to help! I'm looking forward to hearing how you like them.

And apparently when I look away at someone, they think I'm always scowling at them! Then I relax my face and I'm like WTF?

there is one obnoxious thing about these glasses that is driving me crazy. The plastic part in the middle that connects the nose piece to the lenses stretches a bit too far onto the lens, so while you are wearing them it gets a little annoying to have this black thing right there in your line of sight. It's not obtrusive per se, but it is a bit distracting at times, particularly when you move your head. For as much as this product costs, I would think they would not have an issue like this.
was excited to get these in the mail the other day. When I actually put them on the disappointment was crushing.
Whatever moron designed these glasses never tried them on. The bridge that holds the lenses extends out into the field of vision, obstructing the view of anyone that wears them. Seriously, unless you're a hammerhead shark you will have a metal point directly at the center of your view when you put these on. Also, the lenses are weird. They actually blur my vision.
The manufacturer would not accept returns..
After 1 full day of use at work, these dried out my eyes and made them burn for days. Like one of the other reviewers on here, I am a programmer that can't live without using 2+ monitors. I'm not convinced that this is the only reason my eyes burn, though. The magnification strained my eyes, the glasses didn't cover enough and block enough light, even with one monitor some light would come through the center of the glasses, and there were no suggestions on the pair i got as to what distance the monitors should be from my face.
I noticed the colors appeared warmer through the center of the glasses, but this is something you could get from any $5 pair of sunglasses.
When I bought it, the first thing I noticed was the cheap packaging. It allowed the glasses to bounce around the inside and looked as if it was something cheap as opposed to what you'd expect from an $80 product.
Then, I open it up and discover the glasses themselves are flimsy, and although lightweight, feel like they'd break with a small amount of pressure.
Supposedly they come with a microfiber cloth used to clean them. Mine didn't, and it was very difficult to clean them especially with the flimsy frame.
After the first day of wearing them, the tops of one of my ears was sore because of how the frame contacted with it. I'm not use to wearing glasses, but the construction of these frames reminded me more of what you get in the glasses section of wal-mart and not glasses people wear every waking hour.
I really wanted to like them, but other things such as exchanging fluorescent lights for warmer incandescents, and turning down monitor brightness and contrast help a lot more than these glasses did. These glasses made me blink more because my eyes burned terribly with them on.
My main problem with these glasses was with the color of the tint. The resulting image you see on your PC is color distorted. Much in the way BluBlocker sunglasses distort colors. For me the result is the same reaction as I had when I tried BluBlockers. I get a bit queasy. It's not a pleasant feeling. If you don't have that reaction they may serve you quite well as they are of high quality.
As I do wear glasses I arranged my monitor closer to compensate for the differences in magnification. They were comfortable to wear but overall made me uncomfortable by color distortion
those that had dismal reviews of Gunnars...
it comes down to three claims
1) By far the most people claiming a scam are those that claim these are not miraculous or unique. Amber tints, meh, anyone can do that and lots have. Close fitting, that’s hardly a miracle. Focusing light, that’s what most glasses do. Anti-glare, my sun glasses have that. And any pair of glasses over $50 has anti scratch coating. I quite enjoy these claims of scam as they seem to agree with the benefits but are quite upset that the company is not the only one it the world to have thought of all the features and ignore that fact that the features are all packed together nicely. I don’t think anyone is trying to sell you something that is completely new and revolutionary.
2) The second most common is that they made no difference. For every bunch people that cheer them there seems to be one that goes Meh, didn’t do much for me and every now and again goes to extreme whinging that they spend money on it and it didn’t do anything. It seems right that there isn’t a one solution fits all and it didn’t do anything for a few, I would be more suspicious if it was a miracle cure for everyone. But with more much more positive responses than negative it would hard be called a scam, just not guaranteed. And like me, you can find shops that do offer a money back guarantee if you don’t like them.
3) And the third most common is that they make the problems worse. Most of these seem to be after wearing the glasses, aka ‘I wear them all day but at night my eyes start to hurt more than they did’. After a bit of searching I found one bit of independent medical advice on this which really made sense to me and it basically boiled down to that after your eyes become more sensitive (or desensitised to the harsh bits), they are protected all day and living the good life and a night you subject them to all the stuff you protected them from during the day and they complain. Like if you wear sunglasses for the first 3/4s of the day and then take them off, everything is too bright. There are a few claims in there that it is worse during too but this seems rare and as I said above, it sit right with me that there isn’t a one solution for all. There is probably a small chance might hinder but nothing I would call a scam.

I hear you, but in my experience some people are just like bulls in a china shop.
For example, when I bought my current phone almost a year ago, it came with Beats Audio ear buds. I couldn't believe all the claims that they were junk, wires pulled out within days, uncomfortable, cheap, etc... :confused5:
Guess what? I love these things. They have different size ear "plugs" to fit just right, the wires have not pulled out in a year of everyday use, the sound is great, and they feel very weighty like decent magnets are being used.
