Hi guys,

I just tried (for the last hour!) installing my new TuffStuff polished starter, and I can't get the fker in the hole!! What the hell?

The old one came right out and the new one doesn't look much different from the old one.
Can't seem to get the snout into the hole, no fiddling seems to make much difference. :(

Any ideas on ways to get it in there? :confused5:

Also, got a polished heat shield, SUM-G1370, but can't seem to figure out how it goes on there. Anybody else out there have this also, can you show me how it goes on there?? :D

Geez, I feel like such an idiot sometimes.

Got pics of the starters?
I always angle them into the trans bellhousing area and bring them up for bolt alignment. No clue on the heatshield does it come with mounting hardware that goes over the solenoid?

Is the new starter set for the same number of teeth as the flywheel?

No clue on the heat shield.

I can take some tomorrow, I'm done for now!

The new one is for the right tooth count. Supposedly!

Ok, so here is the pic of the starters (Finally!)

The old one is about 2-5/8" across widest part of snout, the new one is about 3-1/8". The starter drive gear seems to have the same number of teeth.

Do I just have the wrong starter? Or should it actually get in there, I'm just doing it wrong?

I hate to think I threw away $150 on this thing. :(

For reference, this is what I have:

I don't have a clue but it if the snout on the new one is bigger and it will not go in......I hate to say it....your thingy is to big for the hole....:squirrel2:
Bet you'd never thought you would here a woman say that! HeHe

Are you able to measure the area the snout slides into? If so that might tell you if it will work for your car.

Sorry I cant be more help
