A lifetime spent hoarded in a pen meant these ducks had never set foot in water before.

You really should read the backstory to this. Some batshit crazy cat lady who kept ordering more and more ducklings and chicks. Keeping them in filthy conditions. 25 of the birds were LIVING IN THE SAME TRAILER (any surprise?) as she was!
