My commute is 3 miles, so it's easy. If I had to go any further, say even 6 or 7 miles, I would freeze. Usually I stash the bike from the first snowfall in December to the thaw in March but last year was mild. I think the longest I went without riding was 10 or 12 days. I actually just put my fairing/windshield back on for the winter.

But all in the eye of the beholder.

I had a 72 that my buddy kept borrowing until it stayed most of the time at his house.. finally told him just keep it if it means so much to you, pay me when you can.
He said thanks and paid me a week later.
So took that and added some too it and bought an 83. (about 93) It was a beautiful bike, but couldn't keep my ole lady of of it so bought her an 883.

That looks like a fun bike. To answer Snide's question, I ride a 1980 Yamaha Maxim 650, aka UJM, "Universal Japanese Motorcycle". Been looking at picking up something more comfortable for the wife, but haven't found anyhting I am in love with yet. For the four or five times she goes out with me a year, makes no sense to buy anything new and I don't want a big bike as a DD. I will most likely keep the Maxim and get a 10 year old cruiser or touring bike. Looked at Harleys, BMWs, Triumphs, Yamahas and Hondas so far.
This was taken at the end of last winter at the site of an old mill on the Blackstone River

My blue Geezer Glide had 20,000 miles in it when I got it. Original owner, all service records. He was asking $8000.00, I got it for $7500.00. It was 15 years old, but meticulously maintained so I made him an offer.

A 100 or a 125 around here is about the normal, now and then you see something like a 200/250, but not very often.
For me there would be no use for anything larger, must of my driving is trails and dirt roads. and even when on the paved roads there is too much going on to go very fast (goats, cows, dogs, kids, ect)
I just filled up today for 500p and it should last me about a month or so.
(about $12)

My blue Geezer Glide had 20,000 miles in it when I got it. Original owner, all service records. He was asking $8000.00, I got it for $7500.00. It was 15 years old, but meticulously maintained so I made him an offer.
VatorMan, don't you like the Street Glide?
I am looking at a 99 Softail with 4,300 miles a friend of mine has for sale for $7,500.
Think I've posted mine as well. 09 Street Glide. It serves a purpose right now- soon to be traded/sold for a BMW.
Same one you were riding when I met you in WV?
I am seriously considering a Triumph Trophy.

Yea, for local stuff. But in summer it fries my nuts. I'm going to get a sports touring bike for some long distance riding.

If I lived in the city, I would love a bike like Thomas's :yesnod:
saw a real Harley a few years ago in the city, but do not see them often.
They have a Chinese bike here that is only a 150, but looks a lot like a Harley.
You can get one new for about $1200

I'm seriously jonesing for the BMW 1600 GTL. It's an awesome bike. But $26K- I'm gonna have to try and find a used one.

Out of my price range by a zero. :) The mid to late 90's Trophies I have seen have been around $2,500-$4,500.
