Some of you may know that I own one of two 1988 King of The hill ZR-1 Prototypes, EX5023. Others may not. In 2010, I purchased the remains of what was once an engineering development car for GM and Lotus. It was used by Lotus for LT5 Engine Cailbration certification and Emmissions certifications. After that, it was used for the 93-95 405hp development.

When GM was done with the car, it was ordered to be destroyed. At an England UK salvage yard, it was smashed from front to rear with a front end loader and left for dead. It was pulled from the UK salvage yard after five years of neglect, laying on its side.

Well, I rebuilt the car and installed a rebuilt PhaseII LT5. The 43rd LT5 ever built. This past weekend, with the help from Tyler Townsley who own the other prototype EX5014, we were able to get the car to run once again. Now there are two PhaseII LT5's in running condition.

We worked 12 hr days for a solid week in order to make this happen. What a great feeling to finally make this happen.

Pics attached.

What a terrific Cinderella story. That is amazing. Congratulations. Now all you have to do is go to CF and start one of those "What is my rare car worth" :D

That is great, is the car 100% complete now? Do I recall seeing this a while ago minus the interior?

Car only needs interior and brakes. I wanted to wait to install the interior until after the wiring and start-up was complete.

Does it have the origina interior, full digi-dash with 8K tach. I'm the rare person that was a fan of the digi-dash and always loved the pictures of the ZR-1 prototypes that had the early interior.

Thanks guys. I enjoyed this particular build. It's always more fun when you work on one of your own cars. I build cars for a living and hardly ever get to work on one of my own.

Original interior?............no......all new. The 8k dash is in the car and working.
