There's been a few Barbie posts this week, so I must assume that you peeps are just as preverted as I am. Welcome to my "World of Barbie!". I thought you might be interested in seeing some of the more "unusual" Barbies Mattel tried. Here's one called "Growing Up Skippy" (Skippy was Barbie's little sister):

Yeo, you wind up her arm, and her boobies grow. Mothers were more than a little concerned about their little darlings (probably their sons) fixating on breasts, and the doll was discontinued.
(But several years later, Mattel came out with "Growing Up Glam" Basrbie. By turning a key in the back of the doll, you can make her begin to grow taller and develop boobs.)
BTW, it should be no surprise that the creator of the Barbie doll, Jack Ryan , was a "full-blown seventies-style swinger" with "a manic need for sexual gratification." When Jack talked about creating Barbie it was like listening to somebody talk about a sexual episode, almost like listening to a sexual pervert. Ryan took calls at Mattel from a madam and patronized high-class call girls to streetwalkers, including a very thin and child-like hooker. Ryan somehow rationalized that he was the only man in her life until he was diagnosed with gonorrhea.

Probably the most bizarre Barbie was "Pregnant Barbie". Her baby bump was a piece of plastic that was held on by two magnets; just pull and voila--a baby! Quick and easy, no epidural or messy episiotomy! And she could have the baby over and over! Incidentally this Barbie came with a wedding ring attached to her finger.

In 1997, the "Oreo Barbie" scandalized the African-American community which slammed the name for insinuating that the doll is like the eponymous cookie: "black on the outside, white on the inside".

The world's most expensive Barbie doll, designed by De Beers, is dressed in an evening gown decorated with 160 diamonds, and she has complimentary gold jewelry and accessories. This Barbie was produced to mark the 40th anniversary in 1999 and was retailed at $85,000.
