The Garmin 740S and other electronics are going in today, sea trials are tomorrow. Should be in my driveway this weekend.

I picked the options, Shannon picked the color. Its got a head, fresh water shower, trim tabs, upgraded GPS, sonar, VHF, Sat radio, dual batteries, and a few other goodies.

Got a five year warranty on the motor and a ten year warranty on the boat.

I went with the canvas. I've seen hard tops warp down here.

I was going to ask what you'll do with the boat but I think that answers my question.

Damn Phil, really sharp looking skiff :cert:

Will be great for fishing. Why the Yama 150 though? Seems like a bit much boat for that power. Not that you need to get on plane to pull a skier...

Nice motor, if its a 4 stroke, it will be super quiet, get good gas mileage for a boat at least. Will be enough to keep it moving, not like you want to be doin more then 40-45 in 5 ft swells, can make for an ugly ride

Thats what the manufacturer recommends for the boat. It will hit 47 mph, but at about 32 mph it only burns 5 gph.

The larger 200 only increased the mph by about 4 and dramatically increased fuel consumption.

I have the F150 Yamaha in basically the same size and type of boat. It should easily push the boat into the mid 40s and sips fuel and will snatch a skier/boarder up easily. Quiet as can be. Full 5 year warranty and simple to maintain. He made the perfect all around choice IMO.

I don't think there have been to many issues on those motors, I, in the past year have entered into the marine market, working on a needed bases for a friends company, we have entered into a partnership of flipping boats and hope to become profitable on our first boat at the end of this month. He owns a repair service company and me owning a detail company, our skills are too good to not join in on the venture, with that being said I don't think we have fixed a yammi that wasn't broken by someones stupidity on the water.

I've always been a Mercury guy myself, this will be my first Yamaha. I'm buddies with a bunch of boat captains and they all say they are as good as the Mercs so I guess I'll find out.

Sounds like the perfect motor then. Mid 40 knots is plenty fast. I didn't realize the 4 strokes had that kind of power.
5 gph in the low 30s is fantastic! :yesnod:

You have made the right decision, about time you thought RIGHT.....

Neil, Me, Eric, Scott, and another guy I have known with Merc products have had LOUSY luck with them, always SOMETHING,

switched to Johnson in my case...110% improvement, Scott dumped his 225? merc outboard for a Import brand, either Suzuki or Yam I forget.....he is happy as a clam now....another 110% improvement, Neil got disgusted and sold his boat and junked out on the hobby it was WHAT bad.....Eric is still trying to fix his, seems that every damn year there is something else expensive....I had a small boat here with a Johnson 75 on back, ran like a top and the p/o didn't know crap so was basically ignored for the previous 5-6 years.....rode hard/put away wet....

I know, it's a rude question, but I really am curious about the range of a boat/trailer like that. It would be perfect on our big lake.:D

600 watts.

Not sure of the VHF, just told them I wanted one. It will probably be a base unit. My phone works 50 miles offshore, so its not like I'll use it very often.

Dumb question from a landlubber: When you buy a boat, say like yours, is it sold with the trailer as a set? Or, do you go to Sam's Fish and Ships to buy the boat and then go down the street to Moody Trailers and buy something to put under your boat?

:confused5:

:confused5:Inexpensive boats like Bayliners often come with "factory" trailers. Boats with unusual hulls with specific dimensions like pontoons usually come with factory trailers too.

Boats like these are sold to dealers and you can then either order a trailer yourself and pick up your boat or buy one from the dealer selling the boat.

Many people that buy boats like these have them stored on boat lifts, either at a marina or on their dock. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say most of these specific boats are only ever on a trailer when they are delivered.

Where are you going to keep it? Do you have a private dock or marina? Rack it? Bottom paint?

Dock for a week or two at a time and then back on the trailer. I will never bottom paint it.

You've probably seen it, but here's a link to the Yamaha Performance Bulletin for their 150 tested on a model close to yours, the Sea Hunt Ultra 210. It looks like a nice combination. I can't believe how good the gph numbers are with that engine! Makes me wish I didn't have twins. :cert:

I started out like that, but would go a couple weeks without using it and the bottom would be fouled. Finally put some Trinidad on it and never looked back.
