I finally played with one last night, a black one. It's really really black. If I had one I think I would have to also buy a matching matte black Aventador with dark tinted windows.

It's Batman's phone. And I mean Christian Bale Batman, not George Clooney.

But, I'm stuck with my 4S for another year. Maybe when the 5S comes out they'll have a scuff-proof version.

Mine is still 2 weeks out. But I guess it's a blessing in disguise as I will need to order three or four spare cables, and they're not easily available just yet. I do already have my otterbox for it.

I got the iPhone 5 last Friday. I got the black one and am loving it! This thing flies compared to an iPhone 4.

4G LTE is the shit! At least it is now until the network gets saturated.

I couldn't believe the weight difference between this and my 4. They said it was only 20% lighter but it is very noticeable.

Quite honestly, I thought I'd be disappointed in the "larger" screen, but ended up enjoying it very much although most apps are letter boxed at this time. However, it is barely noticeable on the black iPhone.

I haven't used Apple's Maps app yet but heard it sucks so I installed Google Maps.

Siri is very cool too. I no longer have to type text messages, emails, searches, notes, calender entries, reminders, nothing. Voice dictation rocks!

I'm very satisfied with the phone.

Gonna save this for the next time we play selective quotes out of context.

I should have mentioned that it was also a bit longer than mine.

the other reason I need to wait... I'll be disappointed with LTE if I got it now, because Sprint is still rolling theirs out (and I'm sticking with Sprint what with their unlimited data and all).

From what I've heard, LTE coverage is spotty around my area right now.

I'm on AT&T and it has been great everywhere I have been in the city thus far. I have a tower about 500 yards from my house so that really helps out there. :D

Mine came in yesterday and it is way faster than my 4. Shit loads immediately. My marine navigation app use to take about a minute to load up, now its up in about three seconds.

4G rocks too.

I played with one. Faster and lighter seem to be the main things. The maps and panoramic pics are cool.

I don't really see the "gotta have" over the 4 though.

Almost feels too light to me, almost like a toy :leaving:

Got mine on Tuesday.

LTE is what I was looking for and it's nice.

I am one of the few that didn't really want the bigger screen as I thought the dimensions were perfect before, but I like the way they did it without getting wider. Still looks a little weird to me, though.

Definitely faster.

I seem to be having wifi issues, though. There's some issue being reported about some people being unable to connect to wifi. Mine seems to connect to my home wifi, but can't actually use it. I need to look more into that.

Funny that you mention that. Mine seemed to drop my WiFi connection at home the other day. It works just fine when it is connected.

The 3D is fun to play with for a minute. The Brooklyn Bridge was a bit flat tho. :D

I haven't hit any of the map issues in my limited time playing with them.

The 3D stuff is pretty cool for the stuff that has been rendered. Looking at downtown Austin (the Capital) and the UT campus was cool.

A lot of the issues with the maps are similar to the things that google maps had years ago.

Apple should have known better than to release something that early to replace an established product.

Yep got mine on the 21st as well. Does everything my 4 did but better. Love the LTE. Also being able to facetime anytime is great.:cert:

Has anybody found a source for the lightning cable? I need 3 of them, preferably before my iPhone gets delivered in 2 weeks

I think Apple is the only source right now. Ships in 1-2 weeks.

There's a special chip inside. Rumors that I've heard are that it's going to be hard to duplicate.

Funny that you mention that. Mine seemed to drop my WiFi connection at home the other day. It works just fine when it is connected.

I did some research on this and found that the issue is that the iPhone 5 doesn't get along well with certain types of WiFi encryption. I changed mine from WPA2 with AES encryption to WPA2 with TKIP encryption and it seems to be working well now.

Here's the post where someone explains what they did in determining this...

Like to share with you my findings and resolution with the iPhone 5 Wi-Fi slow and unusable connection when using WPA, WPA2. I work as Network engineer and also hold a Cisco CCNP and other security qualifications. Hopefully this might resolve and help some people out.

After experiencing unusable Wi-Fi on various networks with lots of network timeouts on my new IPhone 5 16GB Black I downloaded an app that allows you to ping from iPhone/iPad I used a paid app called Scany but there are lots of free apps that allow you to ping.

What I discovered testing with my own wireless N access point 802.11n:

From my iPhone 5 I ran a continuous ping of around 500 packets to my wireless N access point IP address.. Remember we are testing the Wi-Fi connection so don’t add complications of pinging across the internet which could introduce issues and latency out of your control.

No Security – No Issues
WEP Security – No Issues
WPA with TKIP encryption - No Issues
WPA2 with TKIP encryption - No Issues
WPA with AES encryption – Approx. 70+% packet loss
WPA2 with AES encryption - Approx. 70+% packet loss

I used 2.4Ghz range and 5Ghz range. Same on both frequencies.

So the issue I suffered and I suspect most people are suffering is down to WPA2 or WPA with AES encryption. If you can change to TKIP. I would not recommend selecting Automatic encryption as it is most likely to select AES as it is preferred encryption standard.

Note WPA2 or WPA with TKIP encryption is very secure and should not really cause any real security concerns. AES is more secure though. The main difference you will notice though if you are using a wireless N Wi-Fi network is that TKIP will only allow data to pass at a theoretical speed of 54Mbits the same as a Wireless G network 802.11g

I suspect most people connect to various secured Wi-Fi networks during our daily lives you would have no way of knowing or altering the security used or encryption in use. Most Wi-Fi networks I would imagine are WPA2 or WPA with AES encryption as this is the most secure standard you are likely suffer this problem.

Yup. I have an unencrypted "Guest" wifi that I've connected it to for now.
