Give me a few months to get in shape for it, I'd do it. I'm assuming anti-venom is on hand or close by.

I'm not selling it! I just heard the deal and thought it was pretty reasonable. Wondering what you guys thought. I would have guessed much higher - more like $5K

I will be headed to Nicargua next week to meet some of the team. Not doing the training though. But it does sound kick ass.

$3k? Is that all they are willing to pay me? No. My rates run much higher than that.

BTDT. Black palm, screaming monkeys throwing shit on you. No thanks, once is enough. Mine was a bit longer back I the early '90s.

Unclear. Who pays the $3,000?

I'd do it if they're covering lost wages ($3k is close enough) but only with a firearm. They can just drop me off and pick me up in a week :seasix:

No way I'd pay for such a vacation when I can have that 5 minutes from my house at no cost.

I'd rather do survival training where I live, and where I'm going to live for the rest of my days. That would be worth it. Why learn something you'll never have to use? Besides I hate snakes and things that can kill or eat me. :willy:

Join the Marines and you can do it in panama AND get paid for it. I didn't but was stationed with guys who did. Sounded brutal, and fun.

I think its a form of adventure tourism. Tons of people do it for the skill set and the ability to say they did it. It goes beyond what the .mil teaches. For example, there is a whole thing on disaster response and austere medicine.

It's formal training. Not just hocum bullshit.

The guys that teach it are a combination of old timers (Vietnam era) and active duty Delta Force.

It's about the experience me thinks. Probably for the well off white collar guy looking to pump up his badassery.

We will be doing it for one night in March - no food, no water, no shelter (but full on camera crew....)

looks like fun... I wouldn't mind doing something like that. But couldn't they do that some where a bit cooler in like eastern europe?

I passed when I was in the Army and it was "free". Why the hell would I pay to do it now?

Rather hang out in the wilderness of the N. US/Canada than in Central America.

No thanks. I had the pleasure of USAF survival school in 1968...I survived and, having gotten PFO (pretty feckin' old), I don't think I'd survive the refresher.

BTW, rattle snake tastes like chicken when properly cooked.
