The lid switch case broke and it wouldn't click, so I made it work and tied it to the shelf so it'd be out of the way.

I'm like a redneck macgyver :dance:

That wouldn't work because the case that holds the switch together is broke, when you pushed down it just pushed the case apart.

So I had to take the switch off, the clamp holds the case together, the clip holds the switch and the string keeps it from hangin' in the wash. :D

I had thought I "fixed" it last weekend, but apparently didn't hold so I made a quick lunch fix. :leaving:

My washer didn't spin one day. My dad told me to hold the thing down in the slot. When the waterpump was leaking he talked me through taking it off. John came home from work and I had the washing machine apart and I told him to go to the appliance parts store and get me a waterpump. He just shook his head. He couldn't figure out how I got the waterpump off. I finally fessed up that my dad told me how to remove it while I was talking to him on the phone.

just cut the switch off, tape the wires together and you're good to go. our washer has been like that for a couple years. note: the safety switch is now over-ridden and it will cycle whether the door is open or not.

The plastic piece that covers that, I took off, because I was going to jumper it as a few suggested. It's 13 years old BTW. In my haste, I was thinkin' I'll fix it right later, so I wasn't going to cut it up to make it work.

Besides, who cares what it looks like? I bought it from a scratch/dent sale to begin with :D
