I always thought they were to protect minor injuries(Those requiring less than a stitch or two)from dirt and debris while you finish the job responsible for the injury.
This is not the case as many injuries are of the hands and or fingers.Bandaids are packaged in such a way that opening one is almost impossible when your fingers are covered with blood.
Once the thing is opened it is about as bloody and dirty as your hands and is a far cry from being sterile which is their big selling point.
If you succeed in getting it out of that little envelope they come in the next step(If you don't bleed to death first) is the application over the wound.
With your slippery, bloody fingers you must carefully pull two tiny little tabs off to expose the adhesive that will hopefully secure it over the wound. This is pretty much impossible because as soon as you pull one of the tabs it curls over and sticks to itself.
By now you are so pissed off you just pull the other tab off and just slap it on anyway just as you are getting faint from blood loss.I HATE ****ING BANDAIDS..........:)
That is all
