Just about a year ago, ATT had a route sales dweeb talk me into switching from DSL with them, having dropped Comcast....and so talked me into a upgrage to Uverse TV and NET.....

it blew up but GOOD Tv had more dropouts than a HS prom.....NET service was VERY irregular.....but not as bad as the TV.....elder care shituation here so reliable TV and NET is necessary....wife uses NET for business/work/MONEY making....

SO, another lightening strike, make that #3 somewhere unknown in the burb here, and so ATT went down for a day, took out some white power supply box and the guy noted a 'weak' or insufficient line pair....so they sent out a crew to fix it......and the NET has been stable and fast as shit NOW.....

SO what do I get in the mail? a flyer from ATT with a coupon, offering 200 bux back if I sign up for TV again....same rate as I paying now with DISH, except no rainfall drop outs.....

if I give up some 100 channels, maybe even 15 bux/month cheaper....

still, off the web site....it's a 100 buck gift, and this mailer is 200 bux.....

is it worth the hassle?? how do you all get along with ATT Uverse???

I'm not going to read the gibberish that you likely tried to write in whatever language you speak, but I will make some assumptions and tell you I switched from U-Verse to Comcast and couldn't be happier.

Is it DSL or Uverse?? the Uverse has been adequate since my blow up and writing a letter to the Prez of ATT in Dallas.....

I have DISH for TV now, and of course here it goes right this second, as another friggin RAIN storm is blowing over....I"m SO sick of the friggin' rain, think I was living in a hurry cain zone or some shit.....'-)))

BUT here for the last couple months, the NET has been just grand.....

wonder if it's worth the PIA for trying the TV end again....it seemed much worse than NET when I had both for a week or so little over a year ago....

DAMNIT man, just saw another catfish get swept down the street and drowned in the swamp at bottom of the hill.....that is over 8 of them now....

Gene, U-Verse is DSL, it's just two DSL lines run to your house and the TV is just IPTV which is why you likely get lots of pixelation.

I have their High-Speed Internet (VoIP) service and it's pretty good. But as a company, they're as fvcked-up as it gets. I went through hours on the phone untangling THEIR screw-ups...mainly because I either was conected to people in other countries (India, Phillipines) or because the people I did get in the USA were absolutely the dumbest, most clueless individuals I ever dealt with. Seriously...only one out of five people I spoke to was competent to do more than wash a toilet bowl.

You might want to steer clear of this Gene, because you're pissed off when your feet hit the floor. We'd hate to see a thread about about some old guy in Florida who shot up the local AT&T office.

:D:rofl::rofl::lol:

My neighbor across the street is just over 40 y/o and works as a honcho of some sort for ATT, and believe it or not, HIS Uverse suffers same as most others.....

EXCEPT for the fact that fixing the lines, and the 200 buck coupon, and the FACT that their 100 buck coupon bought me a battery for the motor home on the last go round......I have to ask if it's worth it or not....

SO does anyone have TV Uverse and has it been stable???

OH, I not shooting up Scotty, as he is a drinking buddy and so no one else to argue poly ticks with.....

Your satellite signal shouldn't drop out with rain, snow or even thunderstorms.
If it does it's either real shitty equipment, set-up or both.

You may get some interference is someone is running a ham radio system though if I'm not wrong.

I was running satellite here with an emulator for over 5 years and never had it go down once due to weather.

I've had U-Verse TV and Internet for a few years now. I've had a few small service issues, but overall it's been good. The problem is the damn bill has gone up about $15/month over time. I could probably call in and get it lowered, but so far I'd rather pay the $15 than be on hold for an hour.

We are about 2000? miles south of you, and so the storms/weather/clouds are much more intense, plus I dunno jack about the satellites and orbits and where/which one you aiming at anymore than my own.....Last I heard they all in Geo Synch Orbit along the equator, which I always questioned for northern lats....:seasix:

22,236 miles above the equator, which is why, even in Canada, satellite dishes generally point up.

Have your caregiver call and complain about the bad service.

:hide:

Seriously, though, call and complain about the initial outage, then call again when it comes back up and have them calculate how much should be deducted from the bill for the service interruption. You do that enough times, and it will be easier just to fix your problem rather than having you constantly bitch.

I traded DSL for UVerse and haven't had any problems, but that's just internet, not TV service. I'm satisfied with OTA and Netflix.

Wife commented she would like to DVR some shows for later, but this old DVR we have is a PIA to hook up to do that, because the Sat box is one channel only....so how to hook up all that crap....surely I could figger something out....but...???

SO DVR is given with ATT.....but not DISH.....under my current plan....

just wondering who has GOOD/EXCELLENT TV Uverse service, that in FACT it can co exist with GOOD .NET service and call it a day.....

Let that dish get covered in ice from freezing rain and you won't get a signal AT ALL.

I have had excellent service and experience with U-Verse for over three years. I have had Dish, Direct, Prime Star and just about every service you can think of - nothing beats U-Verse.

switched to uverse about 6 months ago on a promotion ( from satellite). Very happy so far, rain does not wash out signal, had 300 channel with 8 Mps internet for 6 months called back at end of promo got 18 Mps, but downgraded tv to 125 (?) channels still more than I watch. Internet is running as advertised (checked with speed test ) and with streaming netflix Im good

We live in the south (Alabama) and heavy storms are common. After having satellite, and losing signal as heavy storms were moving in (and tornadoes, like we had last April), we dumped it after 13 years and went with UVerse.

Picture quality is great, DVR is great, Internet speeds are faster than our old cable modem setup was, and the phone service is fine.

However, if lightning takes out the residential gateway, it can be a problem. We know our AT&T service guy and have his number so getting it fixed quick isn't an issue.

Operation during severe weather is a requirement for me, and DirecTV didn't cut it here (it was fine living in soCal though).

But I've been on customer service side and know what it takes for good service. I sympathize with those on the other end of the phone and can generally get what I want when I'm nice. If you're a first rate azzhat on the phone, you generally don't get the service you want/need.
