Ex-boyfriend found living in woman's attic
Man had recently been released from jail
UPDATED 8:52 PM EDT Sep 12, 2012 by CNN
A woman in South Carolina made a surprising find in her attic -- her ex-boyfriend.
Tracy, a single mother of five children in Rock Hill, S.C., thought an animal had gotten into her attic when she heard a thump and then saw some nails popping out from her bedroom ceiling one night.
Maybe even a ghost or poltergeist.
She sent her older sons and nephew to check it out and was shocked to see the man she broke up with more than 12 years ago come walking down the stairs, the Charlotte Observer reported.
The 44-year-old man didn't say a word and left the house with a smile before police could arrive.
He had been living in the attic for about two weeks, Charlotte TV station WCNC reported, noting that the ex-boyfriend was recently released from jail.
"He had packed all the old coats and jackets into the heating unit and was sleeping in the heating unit," said Tracy, who did not reveal her last name.
Police also found large plastic cups containing human waste.
The man remains at large.
