I'm working on a project that involves creating a website about exercise and diet tips you can do while at work. Before any research was done, two domain names were purchased. After I ran some analysis on both names, I determined one name is a lot better as far as getting ranked in the search engines.
I'm trying to see how people feel about the names.
So, which name do you like best?
Second one said more (to me) about what you're pushing, I like it.

why do you say one is better for ranking than the other?
My gut feeling is (at-work-fitness .com) would be better for the key words

The more keywords related to the search in the domain name the better.
"work day fitness" is almost never searched for in Google.
"at work fitness" is searched for 165,000 times a month globally.
I thought "Workday Fitness" was a better name at first. It sounds more like a brand to me, but getting traffic in the search engines is a big deal.

I'm guessing you are using the google adsense keyword search tool?
I wonder what the difference it makes "atworkfitness" vs "at-work-fitness"
does google still see the keywords as well if ran together?
I think it might not matter, but not sure..
Using the google keyword search tool, have you found better keywords that might make you change your mind on the domain name possibly?

Where's the "none of the above" choice.:D
Surely you can think up something catchier than that, and shorter. (easy to remember and type):seasix:

Yeah, that's one of them.

I haven't looked yet, but it's possible. The health & fitness niche is huge, so it's hard to find good names that are still available.

Actual site content and having other sites link back to your site has much more to do with ranking than a few keyword hits in a URL.

Both have the word "work" in them, which is a big negative for me.

The point is Kermie that sometimes the domain itself can be keywords that up your position with google..
For instance I sell Carburetor manuals, along with a lot of other shop manuals, and my website is carburetor-manual.com
Luckily for me, if you are just searcing for a carburetor manual, or any of the top type of carburetors..
I am easy to find.. :D

Why not use the one name, and hotlink the 2nd one into it? I liked the first one better.

I would look and see first before deciding, every edge you can get is a plus. :seasix:

:iagree: 100%
But every little thing that helps can point to the right direction which is more traffic :seasix:

BINGO!
Think about all the odd ball names of companies and sites out there.
They had a good product/service, marketed well and you know their names.
An easy to remember domain name is a good thing, no doubt about that.
But don't let the domain name drive your company, let your product/service, customer service and marketing do that.
That's just a high level overview and just my .02 FWIW.
:iagree:
Personally I think most web traffic comes from google search and domain name has little to do with it, (but can help in other areas)
When most people search Google and find a link that gives them the information they need, they just click on it.
Does not matter if it is even a long hard to spell sub domain. :yesnod:

This is also a very viable option as well.
If both are liked, choose one you like them most.
Then have the other URL redirect to it.
In a sense, you're keeping that URL away from your competition and making use of it at the same time.
Additionally, you could use it later as a landing page for a promotion or separate section (like a blog) to help promote your main site.
:iagree:
Good advice! :yesnod:
You are a pretty fart smeller.. I mean, I mean.. a pretty smart feller....

It sounds like you have already answered your own question.
:)
Besides, you can just use both and have the less popular one redirected to the regular site.

Just curious what the purpose of the site will be for yourself?
Will you be selling something? hoping to make money from the ads for the traffic?
