Woke up late today after a long hard night testing my new Boracay Rhum recipe with a few friends. :D
And noticed a lot of large boats parked out at sea in front.
This is always a sign that there is a big storm or typhoon heading this way, as they hide from the storm between the local islands here to get out of the main sea channels.
Wife told me awhile ago she saw on the news there is a large typhoon heading this way.
Normally the boats show up a day or so early, as they usually know way in advance, but I have a feeling it will hit tonight as hard rains, thunder and lightning have already started.
Even if we don't get hit hard here on our island, the power will be off! :slap:
I suspect they just flip the switch off for safety concerns...
Heading out to get gas for the lamps now :seasix:
Gee, if there were only some sort of interconnected resource which you could use to view weather forecasts and satellite images for any approaching storms...
:D
Be safe.

MANILA -- Expect rains over Visayas and Mindanao as Tropical Storm "Karen" (international name: Sanba) and a low pressure area (LPA) continue to hover, the state weather bureau said on Wednesday.

Tropical Depression 'Karen' intensifies into a storm
As of 10 a.m., Karen was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 620 kilometers east of Borongan, Eastern Samar, with maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 100 kph.
Weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said the tropical storm has slightly accelerated as it continues to move over the east of Philippine sea.
He said if it will not change its track, Karen is not expected make landfall in any part of the country.
Karen is forecast at 770 kilometers east of Infanta, Quezon by Thursday morning and at 620 km east of Tuguegarao City by Friday morning.
Aurelio said "Karen" is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by weekend and will move towards Japan.
In a separate note, weather website accuweather.com said Karen will develop into a typhoon by Wednesday night.
"Long-range forecasts take Sanba on a north-northwesterly track heading through this weekend, which would bring the center of the storm near Kadena Air Base in the Ryukyu Islands on Sunday. By early next week, Sanba could impact southwestern Japan or South Korea bringing gusty winds and heavy rain to the region," meteorologist Erik Wanenchak said.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the estimated rainfall amount is from 10 to 20 mm per hour (moderate - heavy) within the 550-km diameter of the tropical storm.
Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the eastern seaboard of Visayas and Mindanao due to Karen.
Most affected areas by the tropical storm -- Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga and Caraga regions-- will have occasional moderate to heavy rain that could trigger landslides and flashfloods, the agency warned.
Pagasa said no public storm signal was raised.
Metro Manila will be partly cloudy to cloudy with light to moderate rains, while the rest of the country will have scattered light to moderate rains.
On the other hand, the LPA spotted off 240 west of Zambales continues to move westward and has chance to become tropical cyclone since it is in the sea, Aurelio said.
But once it intensifies into a cyclone, he said, it will be named "Lawin," the 12th tropical cyclone to enter the country this year. (PNA/Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)

I'm not really worried about it much as most of the Typhoons seem to hit up north in the Luzon area anyways.
We have not been hit hard since Typhoon Frank a few years back.
I have been noticing more large boats coming to anchor tonight though, so it is not over yet.
Power is on, but have the gas lamps gassed up and ready to go just in case..
Have good internet signal, better than usual anyways, life is good! :seasix:

You should have left your old wooden/rattan windows on the outside of your new glass ones. Then you could have just shut those to help protect your new ones.
Hunker down and stay safe Tim. :cert:

Got a bottle on the shelf :seasix:
I don't think I would ever let a little rain stop me from going over to one of the stores.. :D
They made it sound a lot worse on the TV news, from what Larry posted it does not even sound like much of a problem.

As of Wednesday morning, Typhoon Sanba (17W) was centered about 680 miles east of Manila, Philippines, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph. Sanba was moving to the north-northwest at 10 mph. Typhoon Sanba will continue to intensify through the end of this week as it moves through an area which is favorable for development. Sanba will remain on a north-northwesterly track through the end of this week. Long range models suggest that Sanba will become a powerful typhoon on Friday and Saturday, as it approaches the Ryukyu Islands. The worst conditions will occur on Sunday as the center of the storm tracks through the islands. Early next week, the storm will gradually turn more to the north, bringing several inches of rain and potentially damaging winds to parts of southwestern Japan and South Korea early next week. Elsewhere across the western Pacific, tropical development is not expected for the next 24 hours. By AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Eric Wanenchak.
