in med school that some doctors are required to take that removes their basic logic skills? In other words, a course that makes them...stupid? Here's why I ask: In March I had a colonscopy. Because I hate getting blood drawn, I asked the GI doc to draw blood while I was under and do the list of blood tests that my internist wanted. I had an appointment with my internist the next week.

The internist said the tests revealed I was pre-diabetic. I said, "Maybe that's because my diet the day before the colonoscopy was limited to clear soft drinks; i.e. high sugar food." He paid no attention.

Today I went back for a follow-up, and my blood sugar was normal. Doc said, "The only thing I can figure is that your blood work last time was done after your colonoscopy, and you drink a lot of high sugar drinks the day before." :slap: I pay him for this.

Well, it has been showing up on TVB quite a little <coughMIKEMERCURY> bit over the past several weeks.

Moderation is the key... Much like alcohol, sweets, and bender-adventure weekends that produce dead hookers.

All hookers are funny, yes, but they're not all tough. Some have a fragile heart, brought on by years of low self esteem and substance abuse.

So you asked for your blood to be drawn at an improper time for your comfort. It then produced abnormal results. You expect him to just ignore them? That's how docs get to have long conversations with the oh-so-charming legal community. :slap:

I did ask for my blood to be drawn at a time I knew it would be more comfortable for me. Did I know it was an "improper" time? No. And if it were an improper time, why didn't the doctors say so?

I bet had the doc said, "Hmmmm. That seems a bit high, I think you're right about it being from your diet the day before the colonoscopy. But to be safe, I want to run some tests."

Then after the tests are run the doc replies, "Everything seems to be in order so looks like the diet the day before the colonoscopy was causing the abnormal readings".

This whole thing could have been avoided. However if the doc didn't even acknowledge what the patient says as a pattern of practice, I'd find a new doc.

My point exactly. But that's the way doctors are: Whatever the patient's opinion is, it's wrong.

I must be lucky, my doctor actually listens to me. I have been going to her for 12 years now and that is one of the reasons why. If you feel the doctor isn't listening to you, maybe it is time to switch, like TxAg said.

I am simply providing an alternative theory to your posit that we has basic logic skills removed in med school. :D
