August 2012 Photo Assignment Voting

This month's topic is "sky". Here's the description from the assignment thread:

Dark sky, stars, bright sky, clouds, storms, sunsets, sunrises... what ever you want, but the sky should be a prominent feature of the photo and not just there because you took it outside.

Since this is a holiday weekend I'm going to leave the poll open until Tuesday 9/4 to give everyone a chance to see the poll after the weekend.

Thanks! It did turn out to be a good topic, though I confess I didn't really think about the blue moon or meteor shower. Everyone came through with some great shots though.

I'm a little embarrassed I didn't have any photos to contribute after selecting the topic though. I had a killer shot planned but it had to be on a specific night and the weather didn't cooperate. Work and laziness are the excuses for the lack of "plan B".

I hereby concede this month's photo assignment poll contest to Needspeed. I withdraw my entry.

Sorry, folks. The original photo I posted of the feeder band cloud, at the suggestion of Beadist after I posted it in OT, was taken in Aug 2012 (it was a feeder band from Hurricane Isaac).

However, the other photos I posted were taken many months ago, including the one selected by Triple Black. I went back after I posted the feeder band photo and added a bunch of more sunset pictures I had on my cell phone. I'm sorry I didn't indicate to TripleBlack that these photos weren't taken in August and therefore are ineligible.

The more I think about it, this whole contest was tainted by my entry.

If I had entered my feeder band pic, some of the folks that voted for my sunset pic may have voted for NeedSpeed or others. Somebody else might have won.

I'm sorry there were "issues" this month. I screwed up badly when creating the poll and posted the wrong pic for Yamma... Her "submission" comment was between two shots and I wasn't sure which she meant. I couldn't reach her and picked one - the wrong one of course. :( She was very gracious, but I feel bad anyway. There were some others entries with multiple photos and no comments about which one was the official submission. I sorta just picked in that case after trying to get in touch with people.

Now the winner makes the rules for the next contest, but I want to make a suggestion. Hopefully everyone will post lots of pics each month, but for your submission, just quote your own post and put your submission in a single post.

If you don't post a "submission" indication, your first photo posted should be selected automatically.

Just my $0.02.
