I've gone through paintball, RVing, GeoCaching, etc... My latest hobby I'm through with is Home Brewing beer. It was fun, learned a lot, but has run it's course. Amazing how much crap you can buy in that hobby.

I think I'll take a break from any new spur of the moment hobbies for a while.

I've had a ton of hobbies over the years. Pretty much down to only a couple of them now.:seasix:

Sweet..........you actually have a wort chiller......:seasix:

I have 10 gallons going now.
An IPA in my secondary, and a honey brown ale in my primary.

My hobbies have remained the same over the years--cars, woodworking, vegetable gardening. My wife, however, is a different story: Bread making, pasta making, yoga, selling Tupperware, selling cosmetics, probably a few pyramid schemes along the way, etc. I don't even pay attention any more.

I always figured that for everything I would spend getting set up to homebrew, I could buy the good bottled stuff from guys who knew what they were doing.

I just like to fish, play golf and corvettes. That is about the depth of my hobbies.

This is true. You never brew to save money. It was to learn how to make beer. I've made some damn good beer. I made a Belgium Dubbel I swear would have won an award if I had entered it in a contest. At the end of the day, I can only say that the people I've told I quit were really sad there wasn't gonna be another beer tasting party.

I've had 3 major hobbies. All were very expensive.

Remote control cars. Spent thousands on those and making my Galaxy RS in to a drag car.
Comics. Spent even more money. 1 year I spent over $10k in comics. I did sell them for a lot more though then what I paid though. Gave a few hundred to my friends son also.
Last one was home theatre and audio/video. Mostly the DIY aspect of building speakers.
The last set I built came in to a tune of $6k. Sold them for a couple grand in the end.

Now I stay away from any hobby to make sure my money stays in the business and not on something less important.

Fairly consistent with my hobbies over the years. And that's not any less expensive than changing hobbies on a whim.

There is always a new camera/guitar/motorcycle to lust after.

Got too darn much invested to switch  mostly car/track stuff, hope to add motorcycles and skydiving. Sadly, none of these are cheap. :(

I used to brew, now I buy. There is a brew kitchen a few towns over where I made about ten cases a few years ago but have lost interest.
This year, I have been spending a lot of time on autocross and finishing my 70 but I usually split it up with boats/fishing, shooting, and motorcycles. I play guitar here and there and once in a very great while, do some art work.

Take up golf and you'll know what a bitch of a hobby that is.

:iagree:

Did it a couple times...my cost per case had to be nuts.
I've thought about doing it again, but we have liquor stores near us that have stuff I haven't tried yet.
So that occupies my time.

Racing was always my addiction.. and yes it is like a drug.

I would never even dream about drinking, always wanted to stay clear minded.

Now???

I drink!

I really would like to get more into diving though, just need to find a way to fill tanks, since there is no where around here to get them.

Why take something you're supposed to just enjoy and turn it into work.

Yea, the racing(HPDE) thing is what burns up my credit card now. I'm taking a week vacation in Belize and including diving, airfare and meals will cost less that 2 days at the track. Two days at the track are usually 3 or 4 20 minute events so about an hour a day. But what an hour !!:hurray::hurray:

I have stopped one hobby that I regret. I no longer kayak. Have no one to do it with. Also, my back starts to bother me. I may get back into it and see how I do.

I picked up a new hobby and am very much into it. I hope I keep doing it to some degree. I am making wine. I thought I would only be doing kits but I am enjoying making fruit wine more.

I am making my first beer right now. It is a wheat beer, Weisenstefan or something like that. It is much easier than wine. I don't drink a lot of beer but that may change.

I tried Barley Wine once and did not like it at all. Maybe it was the brand. I had Sierra Nevada Bigfoot Barley Wine Style Ale.

I've had some very wide ranging flavors with the different Barley wines, it's aged, so that can have some effect. (awesome when aged in a whiskey barrel). A friend of mine makes Barley wine in his closet, it's smooth and tasty.

Name a couple of brands you like and I'll give them a try if I can find them.

I was drinking Stones Barley Wine (Old Guardian) a few weeks back at the Stone Brewery. I've had a few other good ones handed to me, but can't think of the brand off the top of my head. I'll keep you posted.

River, lake, ocean?

I like kayaking alone. It's relaxing and a bit of a workout..

That's part of why I enjoy mountain biking solo. I don't do it for the conversation. In fact, just the opposite...

Mine are a bit pricey - motorcycles, photography, figure skating. At least sewing is cheap. :D
