I was watching that episode with my son and when they first showed the Z06 I told him that a department up in NC has one exactly like that.

I think the entire clip was shit. They spend way too much time drifting shit instead of driving it.

Ok that was fun...BUT, I'm wondering WTF they are doing with a ZO6 as a cop car any way. Is this good use of taxpayers money? They should have auctioned it of and bought 3 regular cruisers! what a bunch of bullshit about a high speed pursuit vehicle. They just wanted a toy, and an expensive toy at that, with expensive tires, and maintenance, all paid for by the taxpayer!:mad:

A "regular" cruiser costs about $42,000.

Our local PD has a C6 Grand Sport they use for the DARE program and use it to get kids' attention. It was actually a donation from a family (yes, I asked).

Kids were lining up to climb in it, talk with the cops, and actually I heard one asking, "Can you handcuff me again?" Not sure where THAT kid will end up...

That car just got them a 15 minute segment on a nationally aired television show. It was probably seen my thousands of kids watching with their dad. Those kids now see cops as "Awesome!" instead of jerks who write tickets all day or arrest "innocent" people.

I'm guessing that car is used to go to schools and do other promotional type work. It's not a practical police cruiser, but it's not supposed to be.

Think outside the box.

Yeah because corvettes get terrible gas mileage and the crown vic's do, I honestly think the corvette costs less to maintain then the cruiser's, yeah tires might be a little more expensive, but that might be the only negative. The car didn't cost them anything, they put lights, and siren on it but that doesn't cost much.

Like him or not, Tanner can drive the wheels off of a car. The other two represent the average person driving the cars. What other show can you see a Z06 race a sport bike? That's pretty cool in my book.

I guess there aren't any Corvette fans here. :( While they said that the Z06 was an '09 that was confiscated almost brand new, they used a 60th Anniversary Z06 for the "race". Check the logo on the dash. Also, the seats were introduced in '12.

Morons. The idiots on the show, not youse guys. :rolleyes:
