We're having just plain ole good Southern cooking: Roasted chicken with garlic, rosemary and other herbs; vine-ripened tomatoes still warm from the garden; and a bowl with a slice of Mexican cornbread in it covered in black-eyed peas and soppy. ("Soppy" or "Soppie" is a Southern term for the pea juice..or the juice of anything else, like greens or beef. You can "sop up" the juice with bread or corn bread or a biscuit. You start at the North end of the plate, and drag the bread South while wiggling the bread East and West along the way.) For dessert, it's a honeydew melon from the garden.

Then a gin and tonic, and it's time to "lay up" for a spell. ("Lay up" means to rest on the couch while your dinner "settles".)

We're both having something the same but different.

Porterhouse, Baked Potato and an Artichoke Heart salad with my homemade mandaring orange and balsamic vinegar dressing. :seasix:

I hate you all....:D

I'm having a salad at my desk while I try to decipher messages like this: "I have additional photos from the parish but I can open them They are called I am here. Can you open that?"

3 more hours.....

Grown in our garden. I think the wife actually stuffed them. They are on the grill now.

Yum.

Exactly....Sad thing is this guy actually thinks I should understand this. Even his editor said wtf.....

We have this sinkhole, slurry, salt dome breaking, natural gas leaking, swamp sucking "event" going in here in a place called Bayou Corne. No, it's not going to suck Joebuck up into the bowels of the earth, at least not yet. Pipeline bent from sinkhole; La. 70 traffic to reroute | Home | The Advocate — Baton Rouge, LA (http://theadvocate.com/home/3539861-125/pipeline-bent-from-sinkhole-la)

Sorry to digress....carry on with making me envious of the food you're having for supper :seasix:

Get the Chilean Sea Bass. :yesnod:  It's like butter.

I love going to the fish market and as loudly as I can ask for a couple large pieces of Chilean Sea Bass.
All the tree huggers start giving you weird looks. :D
