View Full Version : So there I was...

..driving down the road last night after Lutzdog and I finished bleeding the brakes and replacing the leaky caliper on the Green machine, when the headlights and tail lights went out.

Funny thing I never realized how dark the road I was on is at night until that moment. Turned on the 4-ways and limped the mile back home driving by the light of my blinkers.

The lights popped back on just as I got to my property line.

So what do you think? Loose Ground? Where is the ground that handles that circuit?

(By the way, Thanks again Phil, for the help !)

Jim,

What year is the Green machine? Is it a 75? If so, I have a really good colored electrical diagram that we can look at for the ground and where it should be connected to.

Check the condition of the fuse box, too. If the terminals have had a chance to corrode over time, it might be as simple as a fuse not making a good connection.

sounds like it may be worth pulling that headlight switch to do some circuit checking

What year vette? My 74 impala did the same thing and it was a bad hi-low beam switch that is mounted on the floor.
My service manual for '74 had a good matrix of fixes and it was easy to trace.
