Mr vettes thread about rat rods reminded me about how much I hate these trucks. WHY BUY A TRUCK AND LOWER IT?!?!
ZERO performance in 95 percent of these trucks. Most owners are as bright as a lug nut also.

You guys still have lowered trucks? I don't see them in California anymore.
I think the new trend it putting lawnmowers in the back of them.

Wow.
Customers come in to an auto parts store to ask about auto parts and knowledge, and you call them ignorant assholes? :confused5:
They would no longer be ignorant (of the desired information) if you helped them. If you don't have the answers, than you too are ignorant. :leaving:

Let me ask you something. You pull up to a parts store and there are ZERO lowered trucks in the parking lot. Do you feel its a good idea to ask " hey man do you know how to lower a truck?"
We are a parts store.... I sell PARTS. Do I know a lot about cars? Yes I do have a wealth of information from my dealings with 4x4's and C4's. I NEVER went into a parts store and asked them "so do you know how to put a distributor on an Y body that has an LT1?"
Im not a shop, I sell parts.
If someone goes into Vatozone asking about how to this, yes they are ignorant.
Ignorant in how to do this and really stupid in thinking Vatozone has the parts and knowledge to do this. :slap:
They'd be just as ignorant and stupid asking for parts and knowledge on how to do a 2 foot+ lift on a truck, IMHO. :yesnod:
I bet that Autozone or any other large parts house could special order whatever parts are required for such a project. Joey might be able to speak to this.

Possibly. We would need a lot of information regarding how and what style they were looking for. Many times they pull a "drop shit on the counter" and look at me to construct it.

Going in and asking for specific parts is one thing.
"Hey Joe. I need some lowering spindles, lowering block kits, lowering... etc. Do you carry any of that stuff?"
Going in and asking instructions on how do that is something different.
"Hey Joe. See my '97 F-150 out there? I want to slam that mofo down so low it almost scrapes the ground. How do I do that?"
We carry "generic" drop kits, that I would not put on a go-kart. These people come in and expect me to show them exactly what kit they are looking for. I have Zero Idea, and I tell them that. They look at it and then leave, since they have no idea what they need.

This is one way to do that:

GOLIAD — A pickup truck overloaded with illegal immigrants veered off a highway and crashed into trees in rural South Texas, killing at least 14 people and leaving 9 injured, authorities said.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations agents were looking into the human smuggling aspect of the case. A Texas Department of Public Safety accident reconstruction team meanwhile investigated the cause of the Sunday evening crash in Goliad County, about 150 miles northeast of the border with Mexico.
ICE spokesman Greg Palmore said that among the 11 men and three females who died were citizens of Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.
Gerald Bryant, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety, said at least 23 passengers were crammed inside the truck's cab and bed, including at least two young children whom he saw among the dead.
"This is the most people I've seen in any passenger vehicle, and I've been an officer for 38 years," Bryant said.
The driver was among the 11 found dead at the scene, Bryant said, adding that investigators were trying to confirm his name. Six of those who died in the crash were still inside the mangled vehicle when emergency crews arrived at the scene, Bryant said.
The white 2000 Ford F-250 pickup was heading north on U.S. 59 when it drove off the right side of the highway near the unincorporated community of Berclair and struck two large trees, Bryant said. Berclair is about 90 miles southeast of San Antonio.
The truck was registered in Houston to someone other than the driver, Bryant said.
A DPS accident reconstruction team was investigating the accident, but Bryant said it could be another week or two before it is concluded. U.S. ICE agents were working to confirm the identities of the victims and investigate the possibility that they had been smuggled into the United States.
It is not uncommon for human traffickers to try to maximize profits by over-loading vehicles with illegal immigrants as they move their loads north from the Texas-Mexico border. In April, nine Mexican immigrants died near the border when the teenage driver of their van crashed after fleeing Border Patrol. There were 18 people in that minivan.
Bryant told The Associated Press that several of the survivors had life-threatening injuries. He did not have their official conditions but described them as "very serious." The injured were taken to hospitals in San Antonio, Victoria and Corpus Christi.
A Goliad County sheriff's spokesman did not immediately return a message left by the AP.

Probably because the lowered trucks didn't make it to the East coast. Potholes. Try driving one of those slammed trucks around Houston. Better carry one thing with you.....the name of a good mechanic shop.

The other day a guy with slammed pickup with airbags sat next to me at a stop light and, I guess because I was driving the vette, decided to give me a demonstration of his capabilities. I have to admit, he had some pretty good amount of up/down play front and back. All four corners were independent. Really stupid though. Kansas tags, nuff said.

Everyone has their own thing. Personally, I can't stand the ricer shit. It all looks stupid to me, but I'm sure they feel the same way about lowered trucks, jacked up trucks, Corvettes, etc...
What I also find ridiculous is people who take pretty much stock vehicles *cough* Corvettes *cough* and enter them into shows. If I wanted to see a bunch of stock vehicles parked in a row, I'll go to a new car dealership. At least these truck are unique.

I don't really see the point in lowering a truck like that either, and although I like my trucks slightly modified, I don't really see the need for 8, 10, 12" lifts on a truck either...especially when the most off-road they see is driving though grass clippings after the lawn guys gut the grass and blow them into the street.
On the same note, I also don't really care for Vettes that have been lowered either...BUT, it is someone else's car, they do what they want to theirs, and I will do what I want to mine.
