My New manager uses a iPad and has a Kindle Fire he wants to sell. He wants 100.00 and it's brand new. Can I get Google app store on it, only Amazon app store shows. Is this a good purchase?? :waiting:

I hated mine, sent it back 2 weeks after getting it, just did not have the processing speed for internet browsing that I was hoping for.

If you want an internet tablet, look at the new Nexus 7 or wait for the new mini-iPad that is rumored to some out soon.

If you are going to use the Fire for just reading and watching movies/tv with a Prime membership, it is a decent device.

A guy at work got one and hates it. He said it also has a problem where the cord plugs into the device to charge it.

Get the Nexus 7.

If you want an internet tablet...

good advice.

Kindle products are e-readers first... and tablet PC's secondary.

Yvonne loves her Kindle Fire, and carries it with her. But she reads books on it almost exclusively; and occasionally might check weather forcasts/radar... but little else.

I have the Nexus 7 and its light years ahead of the Kindle. Its a true tablet that doubles as an excellent e-reader.

But its going to run you $200 for the 8 gb and $250 for the 16 gb version.

You get the Google Play store on the Nexus 7, that is not an option with the Kindle.

Good to know you're still diggin' yours. May run out and get one for my wife. She won't let me spend for an iPad for her.

Smart gal. :D

She is frugal. Then again, she snags my iPad to play with around the house. I tell her I'll buy her her own, she tells me she enjoys her Kindle... :slap:

I like my Fire. It's not a powerful tablet, and if that's what you're looking for, this won't satisfy that itch. I use it mostly as a Kindle reader, play Words With Friends, surf OT and FB and check the weather. I use it primarily at work and at bed time--it's much easier to hold for reading than the iPad. The backlit screen makes it easier to read in bed in the dark. It has its uses, and for those uses, it excels. It is not, IMHO, a tablet competitor...

That is what I plan on using a tablet for. I have my laptop and the work computer for serious stuff. Thanks guys. :seasix:

Only the idiots are comparing it to a tablet, and you are not an idiot.:cert:
