Dallas police shot and killed an armed man in the Pleasant Grove neighborhood of the city, prompting a tense situation with gathering neighbors.

The shooting happened at about 5:30 p.m. at a known drug house in the 5300 block of Bourquin Street, FOX 4 News reported.

Police said the unidentified suspect shot at officers, who returned fire, killing the man. Another suspect fled and was later arrested, police said.

I am failing to understand why these people would have an issue with police shooting an armed person?

Key words from the article...

"an armed man"
"at a known drug house"
"shot at officers"

That's the last dumb decision he'll ever make. What are these people pissed off about? One less criminal on the street and in their neighborhood. They should be thanking the officers.

Who to believe............

A man who identified himself as the dead man's father said he was enraged because police shot his unarmed, 32-year-old son in the back.

"No reason for him to be shot like a dog. If he's running away from them, ain't no reason," James White said.

A chaotic fight also briefly broke out between some in the crowd.

I believe that's what they call a warning shot in Texas.

Bottom line - shooting at a cop will make you dead 99% of the time.:yesnod:

I haven't seen anything on the news here in Houston about it. The live feed looks like much ado about nothing. There's a reason Rodney King style rioting doesn't really happen in Texas. We shoot back, but we generally don't have to. The understood threat is there.

Isn't it great? When we first moved here there was a high-speed chase. It ended quickly because the LEO's shot out the tires. I knew I had moved to the right place! :hurray:

i have a cop friend in austin that shot and killed an 18 yr old gang member that had been arrested 8 times and was just out of jail for 3? days....autopsy showed he had numerous drugs in his system..... the kid pulled a gun on him and his backup ---my friend shot and killed him .....

there was tons of rioting and death threats to my friend, who was basically put on "house arrest" for his safety.... very long story but short of it is ... the kid was currently wanted for armed robbery and when my friend found the get away car this kid was asleep inside of it... the "community--naacp--sharpton" all complained that he was sleeping and wasn't hurting anyone when he was found...

the family sued the city of austin and my friend and received 750,000....city paid them off to keep it from going to court ----the shooting happened in may 2009 in east austin if you google it ....it was crazy and still is...

This just happened here about a day ago. Barely news.

MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) – Two Tipton County deputies are on administrative leave after shooting and killing a man during a domestic disturbance call Monday night.

The shooting happened in Drummonds, TN, after deputies say Charles McRaven refused to put down a shotgun.

"You can ask any law enforcement officer, domestic disturbances are one of the most dangerous calls that we can be involved in," said Pancho Chumley, Tipton County sheriff.

Chumley says deputies responded to a call in the 1600 block of Pryor Road and a 31-year-old answered the door with a shotgun in his hand.

"Deputies ordered the suspect to drop the gun," Chumley said. "He wouldn't drop the gun and deputies had to shoot him."

Emergency crews were unable to revive McRaven who died on the scene.

The deputies involved have been place on administrative leave with pay pending the completion of an investigation.
