Anyone watching?

Snedeker just hit a drive left into woods and played a provisional. That's all fine but they said he found his drive in the woods and opted to play his provisional. That's not fine because the provisional was moot as soon as they found his original drive.

Are the woods OB? Doesn't make sense as Bubba played out of them Friday I think.

Funny they'd miss that but then get the unplayable in the sand all wrong.

Think it was a mistake by ESPN. They just said that the ball was lost.

I've always heard that if you think your ball is going to be really hard to find, if not impossible, play a provisional. As you know, the penalty for a lost ball involves heading back the the place you hit it, so it speeds play up. You only get 5 minutes to hunt for your ball too. Of course if there is OB, and you may be close, hit a provisional too. Ask me how I know that, had to do it a few times today as I managed to put up my highest score of the year.

You can only hit a provisional if you believe your ball is likely to be lost anywhere except a water hazard.

I think it was fine that he hit the provisional...but ESPN said that they'd found his first ball in the woods and he sent his caddy up to see how good a lie his provisional had in the bunker. Once you've found your original shot (if within the 5 minutes), then the provisional is no longer even an option.

That's what didn't make sense based upon the ESPN announcers...then again, these were the same ones saying that Tiger should have taken a penalty drop out of the bunker!

I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing, and how didn't Azinger know that? You actually can drop outside a bunker under that unplayable lie rule under clause A, but that involves rehitting from the spot where the last ball was played prior to taking the unplayable.
