Drought? What drought? The streets in our neighborhood are still partially flooded. Flooded Monday night and has rained a bunch since then. Reminds me why I love driving a Vette, er pontoon boat, when I left Tuesday morning.

I heard parts of Altanta got rock-shocked real good Tuesday, too.
My sister-in-law and niece were supposed to drive down yesterday and stay with us a week, but they had to change their plans after their house got stuck by lightning and knocked the power out.
She said a hellacious thunderstorm ripped through there!

And a lightning charge contains 30 million volts at 100000 amperes. The total energy in a large thunderstorm is more than that in an atomic bomb!

We had vivid lightning storms last night across Kentuckiana, too. Several buildings were hit, resulting in at least one fire at an apartment complex.
More storms are forecast for today and Friday, but at least it's a relief from the sweltering heat and humidity.
Lightning sparks apartment fire near Bowman Field
UPDATED 7:53 AM EDT Jul 19, 2012
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Lightning struck an apartment complex, sparking a fire that left several families homeless.
The fire broke out just after 5 p.m. Wednesday on Brockton Lane near the intersection of Taylorsville Road and the Watterson Expressway.
Firefighters said lightning struck the building and started a fire in the attic. The flames quickly tore through much of the roof.
No one inside was injured, but some lost everything.
"Three years ago, my wife passed away and we were married for 28 years. I just saw 28 years of life go up in flames," said fire victim Ed Harman.
The lightning strike that likely started the fire was so loud, those inside said it shook the building.
"Next thing we know, it's just a loud bang like a bomb or something going off," said fire victim Chassie Burba.
Minutes later, the blaze was burning the roof right off the top-floor apartments.
"All I could do was start banging on doors and telling everybody to get out," said Burba.
Harman said he was trying to take a nap at the time.
"I kept thinking I smelled something, and I ignored it because I wasn't sure what was up. And then a few minutes later, somebody just started knocking on all the doors, telling us the building was on fire and to get out," said Harman.
"He just kind of seemed dazed and confused, and I was like, 'Man, it's a fire. Come on, we have to go,'" said Burba.
"The only thing I grabbed was my chihuahua," said Harman.
"He's like, 'My stuff! My stuff!' I said, 'Forget your stuff, man. Come on,'" said Burba.
Once outside, they could only stand and watch their building burn.
Only four people were inside the building when the fire broke out and all four made it out safely.
But. two firefighters were taken to the hospital for heat-related illnesses.
"After we got the fire knocked down, we got them out, cooled them down the best we can," said Louisville Fire Department Chief Greg Frederick.
As for the building, it sustained heavy damage.
"It won't be habitable for probably a bit of time, but I would not say it's a total loss," said Frederick.
Still, some residents feel it's a total loss.
"You get outside and you look at your building and you realize, 'What am I going to do?' All my stuff is in there. Everything I've worked so hard for, it's gone," said Burba.
They are thankful for their safety and for their pets' safety, but what do they do now?
"I don't know. I honestly don't know," said Harman.
"You're like, 'Now what can I do? Where am I going to stay? Where am I going to live?'" said Burba.
No one was allowed to stay at the building Thursday night. That means several families have been left homeless by this fire.
The Red Cross was at the scene and will help house those residents who have nowhere else to go.
