Wireless cards

Not long back I saw a thread about wireless cards in here and cannot seem to find it now.

There was a deal on a card and if I remember correctly, someone went out on their lunch break and bought one. Does anyone else remember this thread and can they direct me to it?

If not, do anyone have a recommendation for a good wireless (air) card?

That may be the one I got that you're talking about--the new wireless card that WalMart is selling. It uses Sprint's 3G network, has no contracts and is reasonably priced if you're not using heavy amounts of data. The nice thing is, the data rolls over month to month (i.e., no expiration on data). So, once you purchase a gig, you have the rest of your life to use it (I think as long as you use it once every 365 days or something...). If you don't mind the 3G instead of 4G, it works well. I took it to NYC and had wireless internet in my room for the iPad instead of giving the hotel $15/day :slap:

It's the Walmart Internet on the Go hotspot. Like I said, it's slower but the fact that the data doesn't expire is what drew me in :cert:

Apparently Verizon's new thing is sharing of one data pool among all your devices with free tethering included... I'm waiting to hear more details on this. I seriously don't use that much data in a month, but I'd still be hesitant to give up my unlimited with ATT :lol:

I thought it was you that bought it, but I could not find your posts....Oh well, do you like it? It looks like you have to buy the $100 hardware in addition to the prepaid card?

I do like it. Yeah, I bought the $100 hardware which seems to be a good little modem. I've had it running my iphone, ipad and Kindle Fire all at the same time. I purchased 450MB for $20 (?) and have used a grand total of 10MB in the month that I've had it. I don't do a lot of streaming and things when I'm not in a wifi area to begin with. I got this more so I could always have internet coverage for my iPad and Kindle Fire (and laptop, conceivably) for the occasional use. The fact that the data never expires is what sold me. I wish it were 4G, but that's my only complaint :cert:

Ahh, but an AT&T iPhone can be used as a wireless modem with a payment of the tethering charge. You connect it to your computer with the normal sync cable so it (a) synchronizes data, (b) charges the phone, while it (c) simultaneously transmits your data.

But my iPhone is a mobile Hot Spot with Verizon, 10 bucks a month charge.
