Well, no pics to speak of, but that being said I realize that trips to the home where I grew up are going to be short lived. My Mom is days away from being 82 years old and the old homestead is just becoming too much for her to handle. I handled a bunch of yardwork, cleaning gutters, and tried to help her clean out a little for her eventual move. It kind of stinks in a way, because I've always had "home" to go home to. Knowing that there will not be that many more trips home has really been a reality check this time. I have land about 5 miles from her house that I will eventually put something on to live in, but it is not the same. I foresee her moving to Tn. to be near her sister instead of GA, but I understand, she just doesn't want to wander that far from the mountains of home. I can't blame her, as I would move back to the hills in a minute if my job would permit it.

My kids would make the move in a second I think too. They love being outdoors and well, the great outdoors in the Blue Ridge Mountains have a lot to offer. They got to turn loose their motorcycles on the farm, go tubing, and shoot guns. I wish I could offer them that kind of opportunity here in GA.

Also, my trips home always reaffirm the value of good friends. I get to hang out with some folks that I've known pretty much all of my life, and when we get together, you would think we had seen each other yesterday. Good times.

I suppose in the end, maybe there is not a huge point to this thread, but it all got me to thinking a little bit. I'm thankful that I still have "home" to go to, and will never take for granted the times I get to spend there with Mom and other people that mean a lot to me.:cert:

The farm where I grew up is a completely different area now. It's no longer rural as housing development have littered what was once fertile farm lands.

Good to hear your homestead is still somewhat the same :seasix:

Know the deal.....My Mom and step dad live not far away.....I go over and do the yardwork and upkeep......but eventually, things are gonna change, and I dread that day. :sadangel:
