Mother arrested for leaving 19 kids alone in hot, filthy home

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Police in south central Kentucky have arrested a woman who is the mother of some of the 19 children who were left alone in a hot, filthy home near Bowling Green.

Police found the kids, including an infant, Monday night after they had been left in the home for a week.

The Daily News reports 32-year-old Jackie Farah has been charged with 14 counts of criminal abuse and five counts of wanton endangerment. Farah returned from Chicago on Tuesday and went to the Warren County Sheriff's office, where she was charged.

Farah has been jailed without bond.

The children were treated at a hospital and placed in state custody. A neighbor says there were 13 children living in the house before six cousins came to visit for the summer.

I don't know about you peeps, but I think there is more to this story that is not being told.

1) where are the other parent(s) and why did they not come to get their kids? 2) this many kids do not just stay inside, go to bed, generally behave so as not attract attention otherwise during a entire week, 3) every one of these kids would not have been out of diapers, so where did they get the diapers they needed? 4) the 14-year old was old enough to have left and gone for help to a neighbor even if she had to walk a little because, after all, they were all left alone.

Something doesn't jibe about any of this story from the get-go, IMO....

Saw that on the local news......just unreal. She looks like a real winner too. There was no AC in the house, and a boatload of animals in there too. Just hope those kids aren't traumatized from it.

A Kentucky couple left 19 children alone for a week in a sweltering home covered in dog feces, authorities said.

The children, aged between 8 months and 14 years old, were discovered inside their small three-bedroom home Monday night.

The home was covered with dog excrement and they were without air-conditioning as temperatures soared to 101 degrees, Warren County Sheriff’s Detective Tim Robinson said.

Irving “Joe” Smith and Jackie Farah told their neighbor they had a family emergency in Michigan and had to leave their home in Bowling Green, Ky., authorities said.

They asked the neighbor to check in on the kids.

Officials said the kids acted as if they were often left alone to fend for themselves.

The pair said they will return to Kentucky to speak with authorities.
