If I've told you once I've told you 1000 times; Stop pushing that girl down to the ground. :D

Keep that shit up and I'll come over and help her up, then we'll ride off into the sunset together. Her and her spectacular heels, me and my fabulous hair.

I respect your rights to do anything you wish, so do the same for me when I tell you that I am not any where happy with your decision to disrespect the Flag. It is a dishonor to walk on or lay on. Please remove the pictures of that discrase and remember of all of veterans who protect your rights to disrespect them.

There was no intent to disrespect, I think that's obvious. If you can't see that then you're just another victim of conformity.

Here's some reading for you:

USFlag.org: A website dedicated to the Flag of the United States of America - Flag Etiquette (http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html)

STANDARDS of RESPECT

The Flag Code, which formalizes and unifies the traditional ways in which we give respect to the flag, also contains specific instructions on how the flag is not to be used. They are:

The flag should never be dipped to any person or thing. It is flown upside down only as a distress signal.
The flag should not be used as a drapery, or for covering a speakers desk, draping a platform, or for any decoration in general. Bunting of blue, white and red stripes is available for these purposes. The blue stripe of the bunting should be on the top.
The flag should never be used for any advertising purpose. It should not be embroidered, printed or otherwise impressed on such articles as cushions, handkerchiefs, napkins, boxes, or anything intended to be discarded after temporary use. Advertising signs should not be attached to the staff or halyard
The flag should not be used as part of a costume or athletic uniform, except that a flag patch may be used on the uniform of military personnel, fireman, policeman and members of patriotic organizations.
The flag should never have placed on it, or attached to it, any mark, insignia, letter, word, number, figure, or drawing of any kind.
The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything.

When the flag is lowered, no part of it should touch the ground or any other object; it should be received by waiting hands and arms. To store the flag it should be folded neatly and ceremoniously.

The flag should be cleaned and mended when necessary.

When a flag is so worn it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country, it should be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner.

While I appreciate your attempt at aesthetics, using the flag in this manner is highly disrespectful. Laying on in on the ground, and especially stepping on it like it was a doormat is a literal slap in the face. :slap:

There are better poses you could have used without the flag being on the ground and being stepped on.

NeedSpeed

While I apprecate the sentiment and idea behind the photos. I do agree having the flag on the ground and her standing on it probably wasn't the best pose to choose.

Perhaps a second shoot with some alternate shots like these.

And we did those, these just came out. I'll post some others later.

If you want to know the truth, the whole reason we put the flag on the ground was because we like the sitting/squatting shots and the ground was fvcking hot. Anything else would have looked stupid and a flag was in theme.

While there may not have been any disrespect intended by the OP, when it became clear that what they had done was very disrespectful, a proper response should have been "I'm sorry", and the pictures should have been removed.

While I respect the "rules" I think a little common sense is in order. I think some of it is a bit dated. There is a huge industry slapping the flag on everything pretty much making it all disrespectful by the letter, the flag babe thread is an example.

I bet most anyone here has violated that somehow unknowingly.

Really? So you don't believe that standing on the flag that is lying on the ground is in anyway disrespectful to what it stands for and to those that fought for your right to take those pictures. Even though those that have done just that have expressed their views to you in this very thread?

Interesting, and unfortunate to say the least.

No one has picked on the South yet. That's always easy.

All facetiousness aside, I think OP's choices of poses, either sitting or standing on the American flag, are bad choices. Standing on the flag implies wiping one's feet on it or "trampling on it"; sitting on it implies it's just a butt seat or whatever. But what's even worse is for OP to try to defend the pics. The pics are obviously offensive to a lot of Americans, which should be no surprise.

This is a no-brainer. Take the pics down, and say you're sorry for offending people. I have nothing at all against you personally; I've never met you, and I'm sure you're as honorable as others say. Not to generalize, but artists do sometimes get a little carried away with their work, and they certainly get out of the mainstream. That can be (and usually is) a good thing. Just please don't lump yourself into the group of artists that seem to delight in making fun of serious American subjects in the name of art (Jesus in a bowl of piss, the flag dripping its red as blood, etc.)

The offending pics have been removed by popular demand. I stand by notion that y'all too uptight about this. I equate this to religious symbolism, even in the bible you're not supposed to worship symbols. Worship freedom, not a piece of fabric.

Implies? Standing implies wiping? Trampling? Please. I think people here are a little more educated than that. I have no problem defending hypocriticism.
