THAT is the kind of crap that DC pulls all the time....run by pinheads from word go,

and WE, USA should be the leader in Hi Speed Rail....we used to run 130 mph on the Congressional between Boston and DC, back in the 1930's for Christsakes.....damn rarely that train ran less than 100 mph.....

pulled by the most reliable locomotive ever built, the GG1 ran by the Pennsylvania RR......the damn EPA forced them to discontinue the use of the loco's because there ran off Catenary wires, (overhead) and were electric....the trackside generating plants ran on coal, and were operating at 20 hz....not the 60 hz off the electric grid.....to rebuild the locos to 60- hz was not economical....but the things were all Ball/roller bearing construction, and ran some 3 million miles...yes that is correct....between major overhauls....

but NO, the EPA somehow thinks a puff of smoke is better controlled if it's rolling outta a diesel engine, rather than a trackside plant.....
