Thread about checking receipts reminded me to post about them above, the chain here in Jax region....is opening a new LARGE store here just across the highway...about a mile away....

they not organized like a typical grocery store, because they buy shit at super quantity prices, and dunno from moment to minit where/how much is going to be available.....wholesale boxes of stuff piled all over the joint....

Full loaf of sandwich bread ONE buck, veggies....30-80 cents/can.....

fresh beautiful Bell PEPPERS.....buck each....softball size....

Mangoes 50 cents each.....talking GOOD ones here now, not no drop shipped shit...

trick is, it's a bitch of a layout, but when buying at less than 50% of prices across the board.....

EH, even I will walk....

:seasix:

and my favorite Smoked Oysters in the typical peel top flat can....1.35/can....can't fight that with a stick...

Oh! you had to bring this subject up...they just closed the one down the way and turned it into a mexican supermercado. They do buy older produce, but at really cheap prices. Great to get if you will be cooking it right away. A few other odds and ends were good to purchase there as well. Oh well, no more sav-a-lot in my area.

Had a lot of stuff from local farms and the hispanic vendors.

How is "older" produce defined?

almost ripe to ripe and ready to eat. shelf life is diminished so the price is great.

Bell peppers were ready to ring, but the Mangoes are in a bag on the counter, ripening.....

another thing I like, a ONE BUCK CHEESE BURGER....20 sec in the M/W and so to go from frozen to hot, mustard, pickle, salt, done.....

so it's not BBQ royal gourmet....but for a day to day lunch... 6+ bux at the carry out or a few of them and not bother....which is it??

I have no problem with that. Hell, I went to 3 years of law school by eating pimento and cheese sandwiches Sunday-Friday and eating two hamburgers on Saturday. (Fried myself from 1/2 pound of beef. The buns I kept frozen.)

We used to shop there before our local store store moved to another area across town.

I think there is one here on the north side of town, but it's kind of a run-down area (too bad the tornado didn't hit there...) We have a Food For Less close to our house that is pretty decent for what it is. Sort of a cross between an Aldi's and a normal grocery store.
