The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.
Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."
Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.
This concludes today's lesson. :seasix:

The food stamp program is advertising food stamps as a way for people to eat healthier.

And don't you just hate it when, at the end of the commercial, they say, "Paid for by the U.S. Department of Agriculture." Uhm, bullshit! That ad was paid for by the U.S. Taxpayers.

Heard an interesting stat today... One in Seven in the US is receiving food stamps, and the Dept of Agriculture wants to get more on food stamps as they figure one in four Americans are eligible for food stamps.
Now explain if one in four Americans are so poor that they require food stamps to eat, how can over 25% of the population be obese?
Oh come on guys.
I remember back in the early 60's when we had to walk around all the dead people in the street who starved to death while my parents told me stories of how, during the great depression, the wagons came around saying "Through out your dead" and the street would be filled with the bodies of all those who starved to death.
Now with EBT cards they can get food, Beer, Wine, Cigs and all sorts of things and live a long happy life of producing more deadbeats, Dropouts, Drunks and druggies to vote Dem. Its a GREAT program.

It's primarily because of America's increasingly sedentary lifestyle and the many fatty, calorie-laden food and drinks you can purchase with food stamps.
Soft drinks, candy, cookies, snack crackers, and ice cream are food items and are therefore eligible items.
Seafood, steak, and bakery cakes are also food items and are therefore eligible items.
Energy drinks that have a nutrition facts label are eligible foods.
Items such as birthday and other special occasion cakes are eligible for purchase with SNAP benefits as long as the value of non-edible decorations does not exceed 50 percent of the purchase price of the cake.

If the .gov is so worried about obesity, how about excluding chips, soda, and other junk food from the stamp program (or severely curtail it so not much can be bought) instead of telling Joe Q Public that his Big Gulp can't be over 20oz.
