I was never a big fan of westerns on TV, but I remember most of those names.

The Memphis Film Festivalwas held earlier this month at the Whispering Woods Hotel and Conference Center in Olive Branch, MS. For the past four years, the festival has been subtitled "A Gathering of Guns -- A TV Western Reunion."
How many of these do you remember?:
"Virginian" veterans attending were James Drury, Roberta Shore, Gary Clarke, Don Quine, Randy Boone, Diane Roter and Sara Lane. (Horror buffs remember Lane as one of the chatty baby sitters who incurred the wrath of a menacing murderer and an even scarier Joan Crawford in William Castle's 1965 phone-prank chiller "I Saw What You Did.")
Stars of "The Big Valley" (Charles Briles), "The High Chaparral" (Henry Darrow), "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp" (Hugh O'Brian), "Casey Jones" (Bobby Clark) and "Daniel Boone" (Darby Hinton and Don Pedro Colley) were also there. O'Brian is 89-years-old and confined to a wheel chair.
Clint Walker, a still-beloved superstar of TV Westerns thanks to his starring role on "Cheyenne," returned to the festival along with brothers Johnny and Bobby Crawford, kid stars of "The Rifleman" and "Laramie.
Born Justice Ellis McQueen Jr. in Beaumont, Texas, lanky character actor L.Q. Jones borrowed his professional name from the character he played in his debut film, the World War II action epic "Battle Cry," in 1955, was there.
Frequently cast as an outlaw or lawman, L.Q. Jones -- you know his face even if you don't know his name. Aformer rancher who was encouraged to try his hand at acting by his longtime pal and University of Texas roommate Fess Parker. Aformer rancher who was encouraged to try his hand at acting by his longtime pal and University of Texas roommate Fess Parker, "I retired 57 years ago, about the time I started acting," he joked. "I'm independently poor, so I can do what I want to do when I want to do it."
Etertainment was by Rex Allen Jr., Johnny Western and John Buttram.

I really do wish Westerns would become the trend again.
Script writers couldn't fluff it up with special effects and titties.
So they actually put some effort and talent into the shows.

Man I am with you 100% on that. I watch a lot of the old western TV series and movies whenever I see them available on TV

I haven't found anything this captivating in a long time.
I didn't realize how young I was but remember many of the shows. My favorites are the "heavys."
I thought Clint Walker had died.
Why is a cowboy gathering in Memphis?
Thank you very much for the link. :kimblair:

Oh, yes they could with the special effects: Cowboys and Aliens.
The plot was weak; the aliens were one dimensional, and the special effects were cheezey and obvious.
The only saving grace that movie had was Indiana Jones, James Bond, and the Kurgan.
Could have been a great movie.
Should have been a great movie.

Rawhide, as Rowdy Yates.
BTW: Eastwood also appeared on an episode of Mr. Ed.

You heard about the dead lawyer arguing with St. Peter that he could't possibly be dead - he was far too young. St. Pete says, "Well, according to your time sheets, you're 103."
