Former teacher sentenced after being found guilty of sexual contact with 2 students

A former Shelby County, KY. high school teacher has been sentenced after being found guilty of having sexual contact with two students.

Shannon Hirchert was arrested last year and resigned from her job.

She was a special needs teacher at Martha Layne Collins High School in Shelbyville.

On Monday, Hirchert was sentenced to seven years of probation.

She has been banned from contact with children and she cannot teach again.
Police said the accusers were in her class.
