Texas Rangers sale finalized

The sale of the Texas Rangers was finalized Aug. 12, when the ownership group headed by attorney Chuck Greenberg and Nolan Ryan received unanimous approval from Major League Baseball owners at their joint quarterly meeting.

The team was purchased from Tom Hicks last Aug. 5 for $593 million during a 17-hour bankruptcy court auction in Fort Worth.

The new Texas ownership group is the Rangers Baseball Express, with Greenberg serving as managing general partner and Ryan as club president, his previous position in the Hicks-owned organization. Ray Davis from Dallas and former XTO Energy Chairman Bob Simpson are the co-lead investors.

Despite the long period of financial instability for the team, the Texas Rangers remain in first place in the Western Division of the American League.

The Rangers are making the season interesting for the first time in a long. Tom Hicks out, Nolin Ryan in, makes it so sweet.

What is up with Clifford? The man is all of the sudden up in the zone and pitching BP. Then he kills a gimme DP with his throw to second. He needs to know that if it's hit to his right, Elvis will get it and make a better play than he will.

I think if Wash had left Oliver in last night they might have gotten through the 9th. Ogumball or what ever his name is never threw a strike.

Yanks beat the As. We're 10 games up on the entire West.

Has that ever happened? This is weird. I've been a Rangers fan since the beginning and I don't know how to act.

Club is on pace to win 92 games (95 or more if Cliff Lee would just get through the 4th inning :skep:). LAAA won the division last year with 97 and has fallen so far they can't see the top.

Don't really care how we get there- "Just Win, Baby"....:D

This would be one game I love to go see! I use to cheer for the Yankees at the Yankee vs Baltimore Games that our youth group would occasionally go watch.
Now though I'd have to cheer on the Rangers!:cheers:

I was watching at Hooters. The place practically exploded when A-Rod struck out (and I got kissed by a very cute gal ;) ).

The best part? Me, my son, Defib and Bucky have tickets for Game 3!!!!
