The old Dutchman himself. He survived WW II in Rotterdam and got a sponsor in SLC after the war. He worked in that man's local grocery store to repay the man for bringing his family here from what was left of Holland. After repaying his family's debt, he took his first real job with Liquid Air unloading cylinders from railroad carts and retired 41 years later as a senior executive over distribution and production.

His real passion is Soccer and while managing his career, he became a professional referee doing games for the NCAA, NASL, MSL and MISL as well as international exhibition games, basically all professional leagues and ended up the senior official and became responsible for ranking and evaluating all referees.

Tough old guy, I still wouldn't want to cross him:seasix:

I almost forgot it was that day. Oh well...

Pictures from their younger days are the best. Here's my father on the right (1907 - 1984), uncle on the left (1903 - 1988), and grandfather on the porch in the middle. Dunno who's the dude in the dark jacket. Pic from the 1920's...

My Dad, career Army 20+ years. Lied about his age to get in to help support his family, the youngest of six. After retiring from the Army, got a job with the state as a custodian of a National Guard armory for another 20+ years, couldn't stay away, loved the military life. Gone 26 years now, still miss him. :halfmast:

I have no pictures I can post since I dont have any digital images. Need to scan them.

I have my dad's Airman's License issued in 1928 after he soloed in a sea plane. I have various other pictures over the years and several are aviation related. He died earlier this year just days before reaching age 84.
If I can be half the man he was, I will be doing good.

Just went and looked at it again. You are correct. Born in 28, airman's license was issued in 1944 when he was 16 years old.

Here is Dad from last year out at the salt flats. He retired in 2010 and bought the race car shell. Then he and his buddies built the motor. He hit 207 mph in his car.
