I'm needing to turn my WNR3500L into a bridge for my bedroom so I can plug in my TiVo, GoogleTV box, etc. and am looking to find something to fill the gap. At the top of the list so far is the Asus RT-N56U but if someone has a better suggestion, I'm all ears.

I just picked up the Cisco EA4500 yesterday at Office Depot.
Outstanding coverage / signal strength.
It has lots of bells and whistles like; media server, ftp server, external usb storage.
The EAS model has cloud capability.
Setup is very straight forward. I configured it manually and didn't use the desktop app.
I read that the router basically configures itself when you use the app.
It is noticeably faster than the existing wireless network, with no drop-off 30 ft and 1 floor away.

There's a less expensive model if you don't need the extras.

My WNDR3700 has been rock solid for the last two years or so.

Awesome, thanks guys. I'd been looking closely at the WNDR3700 as well and I'll have to check out the cisco box.
Good timing for this thread...
My ~8 year old WRT54G is getting flaky. :leaving:

Apple just released a new dual band bridge model yesterday for $89
It may not be techie enough for you since its called an AirPort and not a Model XRBR549-7A, but I have the previous single band model and its been flawless since the - n series stuff came out.

My Cisco unit works great. I've run PSN, Roku and Netflix on three different TV's all at the same time with no issues.

I have all sorts of media stuff running through my network as well, including AirPlay from multiple iPhones/iPads, Apple TV, Pioneer HMG, DirecTV, SlingBox, and probably other stuff that I forgot about today.

Too bad the OP isn't sophisticated enough to try Apple products.

I've got the same one.
Only thing I wish it had was a USB print server...

Nah, I just don't like spending a shitload of money on something with less features just because it looks pretty and gay.

I don't recall the model... but the most recent issue of Maximum PC rated one of the new ASUS wireless routers as the best they have seen so far - note they also include apple products in their comparisons.

I recently bought an Epson Workforce 845 wireless 4-in-1 printer and it's awesome. Does Airprint and everything you can imagine. Two big trays, big four-color ink cartridges, it's a print server all by itself really. Double sided auto-feed scanning, double-sided printing that actually works and is brain-dead easy. Easy setup, quite fast for an ink jet, quiet, I'm pretty dang impressed with it. Oh, and the price is right too.

My issue is that I've got a great photo printer, but it's USB and we've moved completely to laptops.
I've got a NAS with a print server, but it has to be reset all the time and my Mac doesn't care for it.
