Facebook stock down for 3rd consecutive day, down 32 percent since highly anticipated IPO - The Washington Post (http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/technology/facebook-stock-down-slightly-tuesday-down-29-percent-since-highly-anticipated-ipo/2012/06/05/gJQAjg3zFV_story.html)
NEW YORK — Facebook’s stock has fallen for the third consecutive day.
The stock fell $1.03, or 3.8 percent, to close Tuesday at $25.87. It’s 32 percent below its initial public offering price of $38. It’s the stock’s lowest closing price to date. Earlier Tuesday, it went as low as $25.75.
Since Facebook Inc.’s stock began trading publicly on May 18, it has fallen on eight of the 12 trading days. There have been concerns about Facebook’s ability to keep increasing revenue and make money from its growing mobile audience, though many analysts hold upbeat long-term opinions.
The IPO was highly anticipated and was supposed to offer proof that social media is a viable business and more than a passing fad.
Facebook, based in Menlo Park., Calif., has nearly a billion users.

Heard on the radio this AM that a recent poll showed 4 out of 5 people who use FB said ads on the site do not influence their buying decisions. Even if that number is somewhat inflated it cannot be good news. Add that to GM pulling their ads and it raises a lot of questions regarding their revenue model.

Their ads are almost totally ineffective. I've used their services before, and it pretty much did absolutely nothing.

Which makes one wonder which group is more stupid. There is no rational explanation -- beyond pure speculation -- why Linkedin stock is so expensive. And remember that it lost half it's IPO value in 6 month. LinkedIn trades at about 12 times its projected revenue this year, while Facebook is going for 20 times its projected 2012 revenue, based on its IPO price of $38/share.
