I want to start a new thread on the mishaps and stuff you have to replace because of the way home. After avoiding numerous near misses due to animal life I caught a road gator on the hood and have to paint my hood again. Left a penny size ding to the primer I have to repaint.

i'm still tired today, so taking it slow. all y'all wipe me out.
Knocked a hole in the tailgate of my truck while backing the smoker back up onto my patio.
I did not realize it was turned as much as it was and when I gunned it to pop it up the curb and on the patio, it turned just enough to catch the tailgate of my truck and knocked a nice hole in it.
:slap:
Oh well...it is just a truck.

many moons ago, i could have done that in one long day. time takes it's toll.
i once drove from Toledo, OH to Rapid City, SD in one long day in my 98 vette. no more. that was about 1100+ IIRC.
geezer travel: max of 450 miles/day. eh, what's that sonny? we gotta stop, it's 330pm, time for early feeding...

may have to consider similar for next year. although that gives me 6 days of travel, extra hotel rooms and food costs, traded off against 3-1/2 days of fun with gang. long time to be away from home, need to consider Mrs. DAB and the doggie (she was way depressed until i got back home).

No minor mishaps (thank God) but Picked up the dreaded P04020 Code (cat converter below efficiency threshold) on Theresa's ECM. SES light snapped on. 2001 Honda Odyssey minivan. 172,510 miles.
Looks like the metal element in my cat's burned up. About $160 bones on up online. Gotta' buddy with a lift and welder in his garage for the install, though.
Got home with zero issues, other than killing a ton of bugs. Didn't run into any Memorial Day traffic, either. :dunno:

Got home a few hours ago, no damage but had a close call. Came up on a wreck in southern Ga, it looked like a semi changed lanes without looking, and sent a Dodge truck in to the guardrail and took the front end off a mini van and damaged another car also. if we would of been about 15-30 seconds further up the road, we would have been in it also.

I've got a little blue Neopet riding in my Blue Car. It was given by my little niece (6 yo at the time) for my 2005 trip, and it's been riding in my car since.
I'm not home yet, taking one more weekend of vacation, but reasonable luck so far. Had a couple of ABS messages though, which fortunately go away after a restart. Hoping it works long enough to get home.
Oh yeah... half the C5 logo fell off my hatch, so I had to peel off the rest of it. I might have suspected vandalism, except it happened during a morning's drive when nobody had the chance. So, should I replace it, or just de-logo it ??

Not when you factor in the Harmon edge!
One year we got a little afternoon rain and someone in a C5 took the 65 on-ramp a little too fast leaving the museum, and ended up off the ramp and in the grassy bowl.
I think the same year, there was a Vette-on-Vette fender bender on the ride out to Wendell's house - cars accordioning in the huge caravan out to the Homestead.
One year at the dragstrip a heavily-modded C5 broke something major. I was in the staging lanes at Beech Bend when we heard the loud "rrrrrrRROOOOOAAR BANG!. Not sure what broke. After they loaded the C5 on a trailer being pulled by a big bronze duallie, the pickup/trailer/Vette staged and finished the 1/4 mile...

Well considering how hot it was my fingers were swelling past my comfort level so I took it off and laid it on the table near the door. I then went to get some ice & apparently the door didn't close all the way. When I got back it was gone. I turned the room upside down & went through all my luggage too but it was gone. Powerstroke? If so spend the money on a sinister egr delete kit instead of a new egr valve. On the other hand a lot of the times you can pull the egr and clean it our with brake cleaner to get the soot out and it may start working again. But I would be worried about the condition of the egr cooler if that cracks it head gasket time. Slap me if I ramble on.
