Just finished stripping my family room roof, and it was in the upper 80's today! I'm freakin' filthy and tired. Tomorrow I start putting up the new shingles, but it's not supposed to be as warm :hurray:. I HATE doing roofs, but this is the last major project to do!! Gonna go take a shower now and then a well deserved nap , maybe a beer or 3 later :datawiz:

I did that once, and I can symphatize with you. I was putting on roll roofing on an old workshop in 90 degree heat. Throwing those heavy damned rolls of roofing on my shoulder and climbing a ladder with them. That gritty sheit just eats a hole in your flesh.

Yeah, I get to lug bundles of shingles up the ladder tomorrow. I've done roofing a couple times before, and it always seems to be sunny and hot when I've done it. I'm gonna be a happy camper when it's done though :seasix:

Here's a shot of my new blue roof!

Look on the bright side...You didn't pay tax on all of your materials...We pay 8.75 %......Pure robbery.

What are the property taxes like out there though? Mine are about $20 per thousand!

Terrible...I pay $6000.00 for 1400 sq ft, and 3 acres.

That's both City and County taxes, too. We haven't had a millage rate increase in over 15 years.

Millage is the amount per $1,000 that is used to calculate taxes on property. The expressed millage rate is multiplied by the total taxable value of the property to arrive at the property taxes due. Millage rates are also used by school boards to calculate local school taxes to be collected, based on a derivation of the total property value within school district boundaries.

My millage rate is 29 mills. Millage is an artificial number established by the taxing authority to calculate the tax due. Since the taxable value of property is pretty much kept up-to-date by each County and City, the millage rate makes for an easy formula.
