Back when I was turning 21 and still living in MI, there weren't all these 24 hour fast food places like you see now. White Castle was the only thing open. The weekend night was not complete until the White Castle run was made.

I can't remember -- where in Michigan did you grow up? I'm originally from the SW side of the state, near Holland. Most of our family is still there. Very few White Castle's, though.

I was born and raised in MI (Detroit then Grand Rapids) and don't remember seeing any White Castles. They had one by us in Jersey that we used to run to when we had the munchies.

Nice! Dad kept the family boat at Grand Haven Marina. Lots of fond memories of the Holland tulip festival and the Coast Guard festival. :cert:

There are plenty of White Castles in the Metro Detroit area, but unfortunately none on the west side of the state.

You grew up in the Detroit area and don't remember seeing White Castle? :skep: I remember several on Telegraph Rd., one or two on Michigan Ave., Ford Rd. The one we used to hit up on the way back from downtown was on Grand River Ave...right in Detroit.

You must've taken some odd routes to get around when you lived in Detroit. You missed every White Castle in town.

I will have to ask my Dad when he gets back in the States. I thought it was Grand Haven Marina?
The years were right on for us too. We were there regularly from '72-'80.
The "Marlin" was a little 26' Searay blue and white.

We had a Sea Ray SRV 240 from 1976-1978 then a Trojan F-32 Sedan, "Sue Bee" from 1979-2001 that was at the Holiday Inn. Great memories!

Dixie rocked up some good-assed, smoked chicken wings for a mofo Friday night, too! :seasix: Loved the hot sauce and the mayo-based stuff, too.

Exactly... Not something I would go out of my way for , at least not until I have downed 8 beers plus or have partaken in other things.
