View Full Version : What Age Do You Think You Will Live To?

Of course, the older I get, the more I tend to think about this. Men in my family don't seem to make it past 70. On the other hand, I'm near 60 and don't yet have any of the medical problems they had when they were younger than me. I know I'm going to start collecting my Social Security at the earliest possible age, though.:waiting:

Really seriously don't want to go much longer....too many aches and pains, just not worth it, harder and harder to do anything, and my brain not much better....

you are going to screw your kids good.....the fixes will cost multiple generations after you a great deal, and history will not be kind to the worst generation.

I'd like to get another 10 years before croaking at around 66 but I'd consider myself lucky to make it to retirement in 3.16666666666666667 years :D

When I look back at some of the dumb ass crap I did back then there is no way I really deserve to be still on the top side of the grass. Must have had one hell of a guardian angel or something

All of the calculators I've tried said that I'd live to be 76. However, it's hard to calculate mine because my father was killed at an early age in the Army. My Mom lived to be 89.

After surviving cancer at age 24 I figured that I would never make it to collect Social Security. A heart attack at 39 reinforced those thoughts. Started collecting SS as soon as I could several years ago so I figure I am living on borrowed time. Right now your guess is as good as mine.

Paternal Great grandmother 101, paternal grandmother 89, paternal grandfather 62, father 72, maternal grandmother 103, maternal grandfather 83, mother 95. That's 40+ years of range.

A few years ago a Doc told me my life expectancy was 16 yrs.

That puts me to about age 50, 40 now.

Guess we will see if he has any clue as to whether or not he's right! :squirrel2:

My daughter is going to start her freshman year in college this fall, and she wants to be a doctor. I plan on living long enough for her to take care of me and change my diapers and shit! Maybe she can get me into a good nursing home! Honestly though, my family is not very long lived. My parents both died in their early 70's, and I've lost a brother at 62 and another at 69. I'm 56 now, so... :leaving:

Grandfather lived to 92, others before him all in their 80's and 90's. A few years ago I lost my Father just after he turned 67. Like others here, I am planning on early retirement, my goal is 62 so I can have a few years, maybe more of goofing off.

I'm surprised I've made it this far. Now that I have a kid I am terrified about not seeing how he turns out. I've become a total *****, for the simple fact that I'm greedy to see how he manages. It has been an odd transition, when your interests and goals become secondary in your own life.

My hippy aunt paid for a palm reader maybe back in 1976-77 or so when I was 7 years old...I still recall asking my aunt if 69 was very old (that's what the gypsy said I'd live to).

shit like that sticks in your head.

don't even want to dwell on that!!!
The women in my family have lived long...one granny lived to 98...the other 92....grandfathers died young, 68/69.
my parents are both alive and kicking at 73/74 with no health issues.
my dad was freaking when he was the age that his father and brother passed (68) He's out lived them by 5 yrs already...I am betting he will live to be as old as his Mom (98)

Well I am 45 now. I know my 100th birthday is on a Friday and I will have a hell off a hangover the next day. After that all bets are off. Told my wife this one time and she said she wouldnt be there so I told her we would tell stories and share fond memories of her. She didnt think that was funny.:seasix:

My father died at 36 and males don't seem to last very long in my family.
Even in my teens and twenties I had a weird feeling that I wouldn't be around too long.
At 34, I finally decided to start taking care of myself and seeing a doctor regularly.
I always thought I would rather not know if something was wrong.

No idea how long I will make it...I just hope my exit is quick.

Since I honestly never expected to make 40, I feel like I am on borrowed time. I am guessing another 20 years. I have to live long enough to just barely get out of debt.

I'm 50. I ride motorcycles, visit the occasional track for some thrill time and I SCUBA. For some reason the wife keeps increasing my life insurance policy and keeps putting track schedules and new dive sites in front of me. Hmmmmmm....
